This restaurant is closed. Don't come here anymore. the only alternative on the grande corniche is restaurant hermitage.
One of the popular traditional Provencal and French riviera cuisine restaurants in eze' is the auberge de la croix du pape, which is a traditional French Provencal and French riviera restaurant along the avenue of the diables bleus (which is part of the grand corniche.) This restaurant is part of an expat Australian and is located next to the hostel la croix du pape, which also belongs to the Australian expat of 20 years. this restaurant was a rebuilt olive mill in the 1700s and the owner renovated it and began the restaurant and hostel more than 20 years ago and it became more popular place for the big tour groups to eat and even the local tourist than beside the good quality of their food, has spectacular wines of the French riviera and the refurbished village of eze' under the plot of the great corn were overlooked to it serves traditional French Provencal and French riviera cuisine and even some pastas and meal times for large groups of tours. as we were part of a large tour group, we had to decide from the meals that have a pre-dinner aperitif (tapenade that I have a separate tipp) as well as free softdrinks or juice or glass wein. it also includes a selection of salads and suppening and sorted brote such as French twill soup or carcinalate, main dish of brittle wine or meeresbass or duck jam or sweet risotto and various types of desserts such as cream' brulee' or marscarpone eis or kuchen and coffee afterwards. the evening meal with appetizer tapenade costs 55 euro per person.
Auberge de la Croix du Pape is located above Eze le Village in Eze. It's a 10 minute drive/bus ride from Eze Village. The location overlooks the Mediterranean from a mountain side view. Request for window seating to admire the views of the ocean, the hillside, and...the small village below. The food is French faire and it's good. Fresh ingredients, lots of flavor, and for a smallish menu, they have a good variety. This is a restaurant for the locals we were the only tourists at lunch. It's ALWAYS good to dine at any locals only place! Our host (and I think she's the owner) Stephanie speaks some English. All the menus are in French but she does a good job translating them in English. And recognizing that we weren't from the area, she made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Any questions we had, she did her best to answer us with the little English that she knew. I don't think the restaurant gets full at lunch, maybe for dinner, but it's always a good idea to make a reservation ahead of time. You can do this via their website at [hidden link] via email. Or if you're in France, reserve by phone. If making reservations via email, expect a day or two for the restaurant to respond. No one has any instructions on how to get to this restaurant. You can thank me later: 1. From the Eze Train Station or from Eze le Village, take Bus 83 2. The fare for Bus 83 is 2 euro per person 3. Pay the Bus Driver as you board and tell him you want to get off at the Col d'Eze Bus Stop 4. The Col d'Eze Bus Stop is on the left side of the road as the Bus points uphill 5. Get off the Bus and walk uphill until you reach the intersection (This is the only intersection from the bus stop; I think there was a Stop sign) which is Avenue des Diables Bleus 6. Turn right and walk up the side of the road on Avenue des Diables Blues 7. After walking for about 10 minutes, the restaurant will be on your right side 8. The Front Door is right underneath the restaurant sign To go back to Eze Village or train station: 1. Walk back down to the Col d'Eze Bus Stop 2. Check the Bus schedule inside the Bus Stop (it should be posted) 3. Board the bus and pay your 2 euro fare 4. If you're going to Eze Village, the bus will stop at that bus stop 5. If you're going back to the Eze Train Station, make sure to tell the Bus Driver Even though you've told the Bus Driver to stop at the Eze Train station, I would still pay attention to the Bus Stop and be ready to hit the Stop button when you get close to the Eze train station bus stop. That means pay attention to your surroundings when you get on Bus 83 from the train station.
Because we spent a week at a B and B rather near to this restaurant and I had read about it on TA, we were looking forward to having several meals here. The restaurant offers a beautiful view, looking down on Eze and the coast. The interior is nice enough, but the terrace could do with some more atmosphere. The owner (Australian?) is charming and very friendly. Therefore it is a pity we found the food disappointing. While reading the menu we were still enthusiastic , but when our food came we were a bit dissapointed. Of course you can't expect haute cuisine, they have reasonable prices. But the taste of the courses just wasn't what we had hoped for.
