Bidra med feedbackIf you’re looking for island-style food, skip Banana Hut and come here instead! The portions are generous, and the quality of the barbecue is excellent—I’ve lived in both the South and Hawaii. Many places cut back on portion sizes or serve dry barbecue, but you won’t find that problem here.
The pork ribs were acceptable, but the rest of our order didn't quite meet expectations. The potato salad was overly mayonnaise-heavy. The pineapple meatballs were mushy and drenched in a thick sauce that reminded me of the orange chicken from a Chinese buffet. The plain white rice was nearly impossible to eat. We spent $45 on this meal. However, I’m giving two stars for the service—the girl at the front was patient, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. This review is for the Eureka location.
The ribs were incredibly tender, nearly falling off the bone. The Kalua pork was juicy and also very tender, while the tri-tip was cooked to medium perfection and equally tender. All three meats had a subtle smoky flavor. The highlight of the meal was the Teriyaki Chicken, which was the most flavorful and tender dish. The potato salad was decent but a bit too eggy for my taste. I really enjoyed the pineapple coleslaw; it’s unique because it’s not mayo-based and has a more tropical flavor from the pineapple juice. The French fries were from the frozen variety and were just okay. Overall, the pricing was reasonable, and we would definitely consider coming back.
I absolutely adore Sammy's! I've been a loyal customer since they first opened. The BBQ is exceptional, and I can't get enough of the flavors they provide. I especially love the Pulled Pork and the pineapple slaw—both are incredibly tasty! Sammy's is a fantastic addition to the community, and we truly value all that he does. The sports-themed decor inside adds a nice touch as well. I'm so happy to see him back in business after the pandemic; I’m grateful he made it through! Thank you, Sammy!
The ribs were incredibly tender, practically falling off the bone. The Kalua pork was juicy and also soft, while the tri-tip was cooked to medium and had a nice tenderness. All three meats had a subtle smoky flavor. The standout dish was the Teriyaki Chicken, which was the most flavorful and tender of them all. The potato salad was tasty, though a bit eggy for my liking. I enjoyed the pineapple coleslaw; it's different from the usual as it doesn’t contain mayo and has a more tropical flair with just pineapple juice. The french fries, however, were the frozen kind and just okay. Overall, the prices were reasonable, and I would definitely return.
