Bidra med feedbackExcellent! One of the best meals I had for a long time. Great taste, good portions and many gluten-free option. Win, win, win!!!
I'm new to the area and when asking friends for recommendations, both highly suggested I dine at Sabai. Even though the restaurant was very busy and short staffed, I was seated quickly without a reservation. My meal was fresh, tasty and exceeded my expectations. The wait staff heard me mention today is my birthday and then surprised me with birthday cupcakes. Thank you, staff of Sabai for making my birthday so special!
We visited from Southern Oregon. I had read many reviews. We made reservations before driving up as their website suggested. When making reservations they asked if the 90 minute table limit was okay. I agreed to the 90 minute table limit. The following day, when we showed up 5 minutes early for our reservation, there was a lady in front of us without a reservation wanting to be seated. The hosts never made her agree to a 90 minute table limit. The hosts peeked around and greeted us and we identified ourselves and they told us thank you and asked us to wait. They then took the walk in with no appointment before us. This walk in was not wearing a mask either. Another guest showed up while we were waiting and he said that the other part of his party was already inside and they let him in also without wearing a mask. Once taken in, wearing masks, we enjoyed the simple modern decor. It was clean. We ordered Chicken Sabai Noodles and Chicken Panang Curry. We also ordered 2 of their signature Lemongrass and Basil gimlets. They had no knives on the table. The rolled silverware included a fork and a spoon only. The knives would have helped greatly with the chicken dishes. The food was okay. The gimlets were gross. We won?t go back. They were definitely a little too precious and pretentious.
I ate two dinners at Sabai in Eugene. I ordered her version of a mai thai cocktail that was quite delicious and my dinner companion had a soft cocktail she loved. We shared the tempura green beans and a Papaya salad as appetizers. The tempura green beans were excellent with a thin, crispy coating and tasteful green beans. The Papaya salad was good with some beautiful spicy notes as part of the fresh salad. I could have done more Papaya flavor in this salad, but maybe decent Papaya is hard to come. As my head I had the spicy cashew noodles that were also excellent. Simply presented and with a deep flavor profile, I would highly recommend these noodles. My companion had a red curry that they also enjoyed.
My wife and I came here for date night last week. Made reservations in advance and were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. The gimlet I ordered was fantastic and dinner was absolutely delicious! The avocado curry and pineapple fried rice was out of this world! We will definitely be coming back here
