Bidra med feedbackWe moved into south Etobicoke (Mimico) nine years ago and there are a number of Italian restaurants around, many of which we had tried, but until a few days ago hadn’t tried Thyme 4 for some reason. Although it seems to be promoting its take-out meals primarily, we wanted to dine-in and we’re glad we tried it out.Thyme 4 is truly a neighbourhood restaurant, and unlike many such restaurants or “wanna-be” neighbourhood restaurants, this one hits the nail on the head with: great food, reasonable prices, friendly service and a decent house wine! You don’t have to spend a fortune to get a break from cooking and still be assured of a good meal! I had Spaghetti Riviera – pasta with a white wine, tomato sauce and shrimp (I asked them to hold the clams, mussels and calamari). The shrimp were cooked perfectly as was the pasta and the sauce was delicious. No pretense here, the server brought a parmesan cheese shaker and a red pepper flakes shaker to the table automatically. My partner had the Veal Piccatta with sautéed vegetables (veggies sans garlic by request) and he thoroughly enjoyed his meal too. I like their flexibility with dishes, a table by the window lets you both see outside (no one staring at a wall) and truly, our server was very friendly – an overall pleasant experience and we will return!
Love this place.Have been many times. Never more than a 5 minute wait to be sat.Pros: The chicken parmigiana is delicious. So is the bruschetta, served on crispy bread. They also serve focaccia bread at the table with a balsamic dip. The house red is pretty good too. Service is speedy and the price is very reasonable for Italian. Also street parking is available.
It was Friday night so we decided to go out for dinner. I let my husband choose for once. He opted for Thyme. From the outside, it looked like a quaint little restaurant with an area for outdoor seating. I like that! Id visit during warmer weather just to do some people watching and dine. When we arrived, it wasn't overly crowded and we were greeted by the friendly Italian owner. We both ordered fettucine. Hubby ordered the pesto fettucine and I ordered the carbonara. I ordered this hoping it was made with egg yolks even though the menu did say it was a white wine cream sauce. Right before we received our pasta, we were given delicious focaccia slices to start. This was my favorite part of the meal. Unfortunately it literally came a minute before we got our pasta so we were eating bread and our pasta at the same time. His pesto pasta had delicious well spiced Italian sausage and a medley of vegetables atop pesto pasta. The pasta was al dente. My carbonara was rich and creamy with LOTS of bacon. They were very generous with that. That was good too. We ordered tiramisu for dessert and a coffee for hubby. The coffee arrived after we had finished the dessert and I was disappointed with the dessert. It tasted to me like lady fingers covered in mascarpone cheese . The lady fingers had not been soaked in espresso. It tasted fine because you cant go wrong with lady fingers or mascarpone cheese but it wasn't an authentic tiramisu. In the middle of our meal, a group of people were sat next to us. They were very loud. The loudest group of people in the restaurant and we happened to be the ones sitting next to them. Talking to my hubby, I had to talk louder and louder just so he could hear me. In the end we decided to leave quickly.
We were on our way to Mama Martina's, but there was a big line up so we saw this place and went it. Was not sure what to expect, but it was really good. Really small place, but we got a table. Service was perfect, and the food was great. Perfectly cooked pasta, great bruschetta , good wine - makes for a great night ! We would go back here for sure.
Last Thursday my (22 yr old) daughter visited and she was driving me nuts to order something in for lunch. For some reason Thyme4 popped in to my head. Once she saw the menu my daughter was sold so we ordered the Spaghetti Rosè and the Fettuccine Carbonara. First the Spaghetti..the couple of shrimps and scallops were slightly under seasoned and slightly undercooked but still very tasty. The Spaghetti on the other hand was spectacular the sauce was by far the best that I've ever tasted that is until I tried the Fettuccine Carbonara!!!..It was truly out of this world..JUST AMAZING AND BEYOND!!..Although the meal was a little pricey at $40 for delivery for 2 (actually enough for 4 people) it was well worth the money. I will definitely be ordering it again. Speaking of that, I was thinking of ordering it again today so my son could experience this greatness but apparently they don't deliver until 4 PM which is strange because they delivered at 1:30 PM last week...Nonetheless give this place a try - you won't be disappointed!!
