Black Bear Diner - Elk Grove

This is a wonderful coffee shop-style restaurant with generous portion sizes. I ordered the patty melt, which was delicious, featuring rye bread and Swiss cheese—an often-overlooked combination in other places. The service was exceptional; the staff regularly checked in to refill our water and attend to our needs. To celebrate my granddaughter's birthday, our waiter kindly brought her a plate with three scoops of ice cream, which was a lovely gesture! My husband had the turkey super bird, which also came with ham and was even bigger than what you’d find at Denny's, leaving him very satisfied. My son quickly finished his bacon burger, so it’s clear he enjoyed it. Overall, it was a resounding thumbs up from all of us!

This is an outstanding restaurant! Although I wasn't feeling well during my visit and wasn't very sociable, the waitress went out of her way to help me and really made an effort to understand my needs. She was incredibly patient and guided me through the ordering process, even though the menu was readily available. She kept our drinks filled, accommodated my two picky kids, and made sure we had everything we needed, including our take-out containers. She truly excelled in her service! As for the food, the portions were generous—there was so much on each plate! Everything was perfect—hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious!

Eduardo provided outstanding service, and the other servers made it a point to frequently check if we needed a coffee refill. Since it was our first visit, we're definitely looking forward to returning—first impressions count! My steak was cooked perfectly, and every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor. I especially appreciated the portion sizes; they were just right. My 6-year-old enjoyed her meal and ate happily. They even had fun activities for kids, which was a lovely touch. There was a brief delay from the kitchen, but that’s to be expected during busy periods, and honestly, the food was so delicious that we didn’t mind at all.

Great location, good foods, and good services. I enjoyed dining at this location.

Can’t go wrong with a Black Bear Diner. This location is always super packed on weekends for a good reason but they make their to go orders fast and on the time they say they will be ready. Would be nice to have designated to go parking, their lot is way too small for how popular they are. I felt like I was shopping at the mall on Christmas Eve with having to circle the lot several times and then follow someone out to their car as they were leave.
