Waldmühle - Elend

The staff on site was friendly and the location was clean and well maintained. The restaurant was completely empty. Afterwards we knew why. Unfortunately, there were already a few positive impressions. We ordered 2 schnitzels with different sauces and croquettes. The food was very poor quality. Typically frozen food. The sauces were definitely the worst thing besides the tasteless frozen croquettes. The chicken wings were very well done, slightly black and also frozen. The price for this frozen product was quite steep at 15 euros per plate. We waited about 25 minutes. Quite long for an empty restaurant and food from the frozen food department. Otherwise the area was clean and well maintained, inside and out. Parking lot is quite large. We didn't rent any rooms. We can't say anything more about this. Rooms: The restaurant is quite large. Furnishings very simple. Old furniture but well maintained with outside area. Food drinks: 08/15 ready meal. Taste 2 out of 10 points. The schnitzels were soft, the sauces tasted terrible. The croquettes are typically frozen goods without much of their own taste. Prices are quite high for this. 15 euros for a plate of frozen schnitzel sauce and I think 6 croquettes. No decorative salad included.

We drank coffee there on Sundays and were glad to have found anything in misery at all. Cake and coffee was okay. There was a walk from Braunlage, we had no mask and we thought we had to go back on foot, but the operation helped us with 2 masks and we could then use the bus. Thanks again

Disappointing stay. The rooms were very basic. The walls were thin enough to hear phone notifications 3 rooms away and the traffic outside. We might as well have had no pillow with how flat it was. Unstable furniture. Shared bathroom. As for the restaurant on site, when we checked in, we had to pre-order our food for the night, which is very unusual. When we arrived at the restaurant after waiting for our time slot, we still had to wait a while, and our food came out literally ice cold on dirty dishes..yuck! When confronted, the staff seemed displeased that we complained about frozen vegetables and food floating in our beers. The kitchen staff didn 't speak German or English very well and seemed unsure about their own menu. When ordering dessert, we received only a part of what was listed on the menu, and when we nicely told them we wanted what we ordered, they started talking loudly about us in the kitchen. All food was premade food that somehow got messed up. The photos on Google for the food are not updated, so we were expecting quality food and good portions. Very uncomfortable and disappointing experience. There are not many restaurants in Elend, so I suggest eating before you arrive. The included breakfast was okay, but the food (vegetables, lunch meat, cheese) was left sitting out, and the coffee mugs were dirty. The only perk to this hotel is the normally 5-minute short trip to the train station to get to the Brocken summit. However, the road in Elend is currently blocked and requires a 23-minute detour. Pay €10 more and get a better hotel in the outskirts. Rooms: Tiny, uncomfortable, loud. Food drinks: Unsantiary, frozen, small portions.

Just okay for one night. 2 small molded meat schnitzels with ice-cold mushroom sauce and a very small portion of fries, 2 beers, an iced coffee without the ingredients mentioned on the menu such as cream and sprinkles, a scoop of ice cream with eggnog for a whopping €50... The staff seemed absolutely awkward and unprofessional, communication is hardly possible due to the lack of knowledge of German and English. Complaints are dismissed. The rooms are tiny and sparsely furnished. The bathrooms are at least reasonably clean. Whereby a single foot towel in the shared bathroom is pure mockery. In addition, it is very clairaudient. Half the night there is noise in the hallway, the staff is not interested in it. The breakfast will certainly not be a highlight... Expensive, of poor quality and absolutely not recommended. Thanks for nothing.
