El Macho Taco - Edwardsville

Amazing Quesobirria tacos! (These are street tacos filled with birria, served with a dipping broth and gooey cheese inside the taco). They just reopened 4 days ago! I will definitely be returning, probably within the week! The service was excellent too.

The service was excellent, the restaurant was clean, and the atmosphere was pleasant. However, the food was merely average. There were five of us, and we each ordered something different. We all agreed that the meat lacked seasoning, which didn't meet our expectations. The flavors leaned towards a traditional blandness. While it wasn't bad, it didn't align with our idea of good Mexican cuisine. We prefer dishes that are full of flavor and spice.

This is the best Mexican food I've enjoyed in a long time. Both of our meals were packed with flavor and truly exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly and attentive. I highly recommend giving this place a try!

It's unusual to find a restaurant with so many five-star reviews, so I was taken aback by how disappointed I was. While we were dining, I even overheard another table complaining. Perhaps it was just an off day. We ordered the nachos served in a can, which were actually fun and quite tasty. I also tried the enormous taco, but it was just okay—quite mushy, actually. The steak street taco was decent, around a 4.7-star experience.

I was curious to try this restaurant after passing by it several times. A few weeks ago, some coworkers and I decided to stop in for lunch, and I was quite happy with the experience. It's not an upscale place, so I wouldn't recommend it for a date night, but I really enjoyed the chorizo street tacos I ordered. The service was prompt, and the portion sizes were decent. One of my coworkers ordered a regular-sized burrito, and it was enormous! The menu is relatively small, but it’s still a great spot for lunch. I would definitely come back since it's conveniently located near my workplace.
