The 9 course tasting menu was amazing, perfect presentation, amazing flavours and left you wanting more. The waiting on staff were so polite&knowledgeable, as we was leaving the Chef took time out to chat to us which was a lovely touch,we can't wait to return.
We have been many times to this amazing restaurant. December we took our grandson as he's trying to be a chef ,and we thought it would be an excellent opportunity to taste the fabulous food here. We were not disappointed it was excellent as usual. Our grandson enjoyed everything as did we .It's time to book again .if you like good food and service this is the place to go .
I ate at three Michelin recommended restaurants in Beverley, and Whites was clearly the best. Just outside the North Bar, it is a small restaurant with only a handful of well-spaced tables and a calm feel to it. That is helped by the soft jazz music which puts you in a relaxed mood right away. I liked it so much that I wanted to buy the albums but was told that this was just a compilation that the chef himself had put together. Whites has an imaginative 9-course tasting menu, but before the first course even appeared, I was brought four delicious little canapés, including a venison tartlet with 30-month-old parmesan. The tasting menu then proceeded to impress with such delights as East Coast lobster, Lincolnshire smoked eel, new season partridge, and Yorkshire lamb rump. I would also recommend the 9 matching wines—they came from many countries around the globe, including New Zealand and Chile, as well as the more familiar Spain, Portugal, and California, and were paired nicely with each dish. The service was impeccable, and both the waitress and the waiter were not only knowledgeable about the food and wines, but happy to linger to answer any questions in more depth. And the young waiter, Sam, had a smile for everyone that could melt ice. As I left, I appreciated the fact that the chef came out to exchange a few friendly words with me. My evening at Whites was one of the real highlights of my stay in Beverley. You could not be disappointed with a dinner at Whites, but given the modest number of tables, you should definitely book in advance. They richly deserve their commendation by Michelin.
Our 9 course tasting menu was wonderfully served and paced, lasting 3 hours, not rushed. The plates kept flowing to us, served in a variety of beautiful dishes to complement the food. One of my favorites was the smoked eel with horseradish mousse, pickled cucumber, and sea purslane. Then again, the Yorkshire lamb rump with mint and pumpkin seed pesto, lamb shank croquette, black garlic was exquisite. The most tender lamb imaginable beyond any meat I have experienced. It was hard to resist not filling up on the delicious crusty muffin shaped bread and butter. One of the 3 of us is a fine cook herself, and her mental wheels were spinning as she described her inspired plans to incorporate some of these ideas into her future creations. The menu is fixed. The owner/chef John Robinson is an artist and worked in the kitchen by himself with two servers in such a relaxing peaceful environment, four other tables aside from us. At the end, we asked if we could take the paper menu as a souvenir and the chef autographed it and came out to chat as we left. During our stay in Beverley, we certainly enjoyed our fish and chips, falafel, and home made meals at our Airbnb. White’s was my highlight, a special night out for a treat. I have returned home now and am far away in Massachusetts USA. If I ever return to Beverley, a reservation at White’s will be first on my list.
A better than solid option for an intriguing evening out dining. I think most people will be very pleased with the dishes and the small, bespoke ambiance. There wasn't anything I didn't think was good. Not amazing but well worth a trip.
