Bidra med feedbackThe waiter was absent for most of our meal, and when he finally did come around, he wasn’t particularly helpful. As for the food, nearly everything we wanted was unavailable. I ended up ordering the Lamb Barbacoa Tablita, which was beautifully presented, but unfortunately, it was only lukewarm. To my dismay, I found a piece of octopus in my dish (which I initially mistook for baby corn) and as someone who doesn't eat seafood, this completely turned me off and I couldn’t eat any more. To make matters worse, halfway through our meal, the staff turned on the bright overhead lights, seemingly not noticing that a table of five was still dining. On a positive note, the cocktails were excellent, and the ambiance of the space was stunning. Given the high prices, we really expected a much better experience overall.
This isn't the Spindler's you remember. My partner and I, longtime residents of the area, used to celebrate our anniversaries here regularly. After moving away in January, we were excited to return this August, but we were caught off guard by the restaurant's revamped menu, which now primarily features Mexican cuisine. Given this unexpected shift, we decided to stick to a few appetizers (chips, salsa, guacamole) and drinks before heading to another restaurant. Even with just that, our bill exceeded $60. Additionally, our server was quite rude, but we still tipped as if we had ordered two main courses. We hoped he was just having a rough day, but based on other reviews, it seems there have been broader changes at Spindler's. What happened? If you're craving Mexican food, you might want to try Rosie's instead. For excellent service and great food, check out Strangers and Saints just down the street, where we were accommodated without any issues. Overall, Spindler's isn't worth the money or the unpleasantness of the staff at this time.
I had one of the best burritos I've ever had at this place. The New Mexican chili was truly authentic, just as promised. The fish basket was fantastic as well. I absolutely loved the food. However, the service lived up to the mixed reviews; there was plenty of attitude, long stretches of disappearing staff, and a total lack of attentiveness. Whether you receive the correct order seems left to fate. They really need to hire new staff.
I don't write many reviews, but this place is so good, I feel I must support them. IMO, this is the best meal in PTown. The wife and I have been here twice this summer. Both times we were blown away by the food. In June, I had the shrimp and she had the ribeye. Both were memorable. In fact, she dreamed about that ribeye all summer that's why we find ourselves here again tonight. Tonight I had the halibut and she once again had the ribeye. Both were exceptional. Also, the spicy cucumber margaritas are delicious. I'm just surprised that this place isn't packed. I sincerely hope they survive until next summer, as we'll be back!
It was Carnival in Provincetown today (8/18/22 and we stopped into Spindler 's for a bite and some drinks before the parade. We were a table of five. We placed drink orders and one of our party asked our waiter, Amadeo, if he could change his order before Amadeo left the table. Amadeo 's response was No, I already put it in. This seemed odd, the bar was right near our table so, I stepped over to the bar and I asked the bartender if he could alter the order, he said, No problem! When it was time to order food, the menu offered tacos at $8.00 per taco. Two people at our table ordered a taco each, when the order came, there were two on each plate. Since only one taco per person was ordered we asked about this and Amadeo told us that this was right, two came per order. Which we perceived as 2/ order or $8.00/order. We were prepared to send them back and wait for the order to be corrected, but we were assured that everything was alright. When we received our bill the total for two orders of tacos was $44.00. When we asked about this we were initially told that the extra was because we ordered rice and beans. We did not order rice and beans. We noted this to Amadeo who then said, that the tacos come with two and it is $8.00 per taco. We pointed out to him that we asked him about this when the order came, since it was not clear on the menu and he told us when the food was delivered that the order came with two. Never actually clarifying the price. He brought his manager into the situation. I do not have the manager 's name, but this person took this situation to a drastic extreme. We were willing to pay for what we ordered, we were trying to bring to attention the misleading information we had received about this menu item and wanted to make it clear that we tried to address this appropriately earlier in the meal. His only rebuttal was to ask How many tacos did you eat? Okay yes, however that only happened because the waiter, Amadeo led us to believe that this was how the order came. (Truthfully, neither of those who ordered tacos wanted more than one. The bottom line here is customer service. We did not do anything wrong. The manager did not address this situation appropriately. He told us we were annoying him. We were talking about $28 in up-charges, that we had attempted to clarify long before this manager got involved. Realistically this was not even about the money, it was about appropriate and thorough communication, it was clear from the start of our time at this establishment that our waiter, Amadeo, could not be bothered. Once we had the misfortune of interacting with his manager, it became clear where his attitude came from. We were kicked out of this establishment for questioning the advertising on their menu. I don 't write reviews like this. I don 't go out looking for traumatic dining experiences. I have been a waiter and a bartender and have never once treated a customer as disrespectfully as I was treated at this establishment. I will never go back, despite their remarkable margaritas, which is unfortunate because the The bartender was attentive and respectful.
