Zel's Roast Beef - East Chicago

The flavor is what you would expect from a Chicago Italian beef that has been made in Indiana. It didn't meet my expectations.

I haven't visited this restaurant in quite some time, and it’s unlikely I will return. If the older staff members have a negative attitude, they really shouldn't be the first faces customers see. I was served a spoiled pineapple milkshake. Returning it wasn't an issue since the employee noticed the smell, which was reminiscent of milk that has been left in the fridge two weeks past its expiration date. I was told that the issue was with the pineapples and was offered another flavor. I chose strawberry, and I regret not trying it on the spot. After leaving, I took a sip while driving and discovered that it was spoiled as well. Not wanting to go through the hassle again, I stopped in the nearest alley and discarded it. I expected a lot more from a milkshake that cost over $4, especially since it was served in a standard cup but labeled as large.

I like Zeus a lot. I wish there menu would increase with more variety of foods. Still if you like roast beef sandwiches or hamburgers, this is the place to go.

It was nice to try a Chicago roast beef sandwich outside of O'Hare airport... I was not disappointed with the sandwich.

The restaurant is cozy, but finding parking can be difficult. The chili lacks a homemade flavor. On the positive side, the staff is always courteous.
