Bidra med feedbackBeautiful decor ambiance in this yr old room. We had appetizers, duck lamb main courses desserts. Food was world class as good as it gets presented like Art. A true gourmet experience. Waitress was lovely and extremely accommodating. Wine...cellar very interesting. This restaurant is a true gem.
It was the Saturday of the Canada Day long weekend and I came to Twin Fires for dinner. My party of three and I made a reservation in anticipation of some crowds and were pleased with our meals. I ordered the Confit Duck Leg and...Quebec Duck Sausage which was cooked to perfection. The duck leg was tender and well-seasoned, whilst the sausage had an amazing smokey flavour to it. Despite them both being from the same cut of meat, each had it's own flavour profiling that added to the entirety of the entree. Accompanying were roasted red potatoes, asparagus and carrots, which were served with a spiced prune and rhubarb sauce. All aspects of the dish played their own part in making it delicious. Compliments to Chef Dave! All of the ingredients used were fresh and locally sourced (for the most part) which is a huge plus considering the restaurant's locale. There are few items on the menu which also speaks to the quality of the food you will receive. The service I received was excellent as well, everyone being pleasant throughout its entirety. This is a place you need to eat at whenever you're in the Eagle Lake region as it gives the bougiest of downtown Toronto fine dining restaurants a run for their money without the super high price tag and crowded dining spaces!
My partner and I purchased a Groupon the hotel offers that includes a day spa pass for two, as well as dinner and a glass of wine. The server provided us with a fixed menu for the Groupon, which allowed each of us to choose...one of three starters, two entrees, three desserts, as well as a selection of five wines. My partner went with the Cesar salad which was delicately presented in the romaine leafs still intact the Portuguese Chicken and a slice of carrot cake. He said the carrot cake was the best he had ever had, and I'd have to agree as I stole a few bites myself. I went with the Cream of Cauliflower soup, Orange Taragon-infused Atlantic Salmon, and a Caramel Apple Crisp with Vanilla ice cream for dessert. The grilled vegetables with our entrees were delicious and was probably my favourite part besides the dessert which was rich and delectable. We both paired our meals with a glass of Shiraz, which was also included in our Groupon. The restaurant was fairly empty as dinner hours started shortly before our reservation. The atmosphere was intimate and relaxed. The Groupon covered our entire meal, leaving us with the tax and tip, which we left hearty for the great hospitality and amazing food. We'll be back again in the future!
Highlight of our stay at Sir Sams. Great service and food. We had calamari app followed by salmon and duck duo and dessert. Everything was perfect.
My wife and I own a cottage in the area for many years now so we decided to have a lunch date at Sir Sams for the first time (we did not stay there we just had lunch). We arrived on a Thursday in September...and I do understand that it is the off season however it's still a resort. When we arrived we walked in and walked towards the back of the building which took us into a dingy bar area, I asked the guy behind the bar if there was anywhere else to sit and he suggested the outdoor patio which was a nice change from the bar area. When he came out I asked him for a menu and he told me that he didn't have a menu and that we had choices, it was either fish and chips or our choice of a chicken, beef or veggie sandwich. My wife and I both looked at each other in disbelief and disappointingly ordered veggie sandwiches and my wife order a ginger ale and I had a water. As we were sitting on the patio enjoying the view of the lake employees came around, one with a weed whacker and the other had a leaf blower so we couldn't even carry on a conversation. Needless to say we ate our inch diameter sandwiches as quickly as possible just to get out of there. I went in to pay and the lunch came to with the tax, a little steep for what we got considering the portion size and the lack of selection. Nonetheless I can't see myself ever returning here for a meal, what a true disappointment.
