Bidra med feedbackI wanted to taste this restaurant in the rockland shopping centre. taberna is located in the third floor on the right side of the food dish. I ordered half the buck with salat and pommes. service was very fast I got my fresh roasted bbq. huh in ca. 5-7 minutes. let me tell them that I was blown away on the taste of this fabulous boiled bbq roasted Portuguese huh. the chicken was fresh and very tasty cooked. the salat and fönfries were also very delicious. the price was also exactly right $21 tax-in for a huge half roasted bun, fries, drink and salad. this is a hidden gem in the rockland food court and I recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes bbq roasted chicken. to the bad there is not this restaurant near my house where I can order this huh more often. great work on the almost food concept continue the great work!

We live in portugal and last month my family and I visited montreal. after many days, tasting various foods that we enjoyed very much, we missed our traditional Portuguese food. so we were looking for the best rated Portuguese restaurant we used in old. montreal, where we lived. we consulted trip advisor and google and from the reviews, we decided on taberna. the menu seemed different and the prices seemed appropriate, and it was only a few minutes walk from where we were. what a total disappointment! we were a group of 5 out of all our decisions, the best we could say about each of the dishes was that they were awful with much thicker piri piri sauce. rissois de camarão and pasteis de bacalhau far away even a modest “good” our waitress was pleasant, but slow and has not understood a word of Portuguese! the next restaurant comes to be Portuguese, is the hahn of barcelos sitting on a hut, super bock beer, and the wine. the decor and the dishes looked really good in the pictures on google. royalties the appetizers on the table of olives and lupin beans were also seasoned in an “off” way – not Portuguese style! the piri piri sauce was thick with a taste over it. from the mainland portugal to the azors I have never experienced such a thick piri piri sauce. the chef must really think it is special because it seemed on the hen and bifana, on just about everything to be used, plus they bring an additional side dish from him...as if it were so good! I don't understand the great reviews! the only explanation is that they are made by people who are not too familiar with genuine Portuguese cuisine. for someone who really knows Portuguese eating and is used to the excellent oriented from all regions portugals, I am even embarrassing that this restaurant itself calls a Portuguese. bad piri piri sauce, super bock beer, Portuguese wein and lupine beans make a Portuguese restaurant! totally wasted night over terrible eating, moderate service and terrible atmosphere. this was my first visit to montreal, but I was later told there are various possibilities in Portuguese restaurants in the city. we had no luck in our choice. if they are looking for good authentic Portuguese food, look elsewhere!
The Portuguese chicken at Taberna is out of this world! It's incredibly juicy and flavourful, the fries are delicious and crispy as well. The interiors are very rustic yet elegant, and the prices are very reasonable $20/person) for generous portions. It's become my go to place...for a casual lunch with friends but beware that the wait for a table can get quite long, especially at peak lunch hour. Definitely worth the wait!
Great Portuguese chicken... The fries are to die for(DEFINITELY NOT the frozen kind) Service very friendly and attentive. Prices very reasonable..
