Namu - Durham

Namu. you had me in the hell. or was it her Mexican BBQ shell? whatever, this food is legit. simply my top 3 restaurant in all durham. Korean bbq is always fresh and tasty and who doesn't love a bowl that can be sprinkled with delicious sauces?

Has a great sitting area in the open, which gives a garden with a mini bamboo forest. eating is Korean fusion and the part is very generous. if they don't feel eating, they have a caffe and an extensive selection of beer. I recommend it.

My children and I visited Namu on June 4, 2022. My son heard great things about this restaurant. We were looking for a place to have dinner to continue our celebration of my daughter’s birthday, so we decided to try it out. This restaurant does not allow you to make reservations. It is a walk in service. Upon arrival, you choose your own seating. You have the option to sit at one of the tables inside the building, or you can sit at a table in the outside area behind the restaurant. We opted to sit outside as this area is adorned with wisteria and running lights and gives a spectacular ambience. Once seated, you order yourself via a display card on the table with a QR code and the table number. You scan the code which pulls up the menu. You place your order for the table and pay for everything at the same time. If there will be separate checks at the table, then each separate check will have to do the same process; however, if it’s on one check, then one person does it and include all applicable orders. After placing our orders, our appetizers came out within less than five minutes followed by our entrées after we’ve had a chance to finish our appetizers. I was very happy about the speed our food came out. There was no long waiting or miscommunication of what we ordered because we did it ourselves. We did have to call over a couple of the workers to clarify a few things on the menu but otherwise, this was a very simplified process. There is a bar area towards the back that has extra utensils, baskets, sauces, water, and to-go containers that you can access at your own leisure. This was very convenient. We ordered a variety of items: Edamame, Seasoned Bean Sprouts, Veggie Gimbap, Shrimp Tempura Gimbap, Crab Gimbap, Loaded Quesadilla, Kimchi Gimbap, Mandoo, and a couple drinks. Everything that was ordered looked appealing and tasted great. The flavors blended well together and had great texture. Additionally, the portions were a great size. Although we didn’t have a specific server/host, everyone we contacted to ask a question or get advice about something on the menu was very professional, friendly, and happy to assist us. We had a fabulous time at this restaurant and a great ending to our birthday celebration. I consider this restaurant one of Durham’s hidden gems. We will definitely visit again.

Namu is one of my favorite cafes to sit in! The coffee and food are really good. The seating inside is such an aesthetic and the outdoor seating is even better! It's like if Duke Gardens was a coffee shop. They have a variety of pastries and drinks and a is great place for Korean BBQ. I highly recommend as a hang out spot or place to work from!

Delicious, tasty, real flavor. That's how I describe what I had, it was fantastic. The food was incredible and they had it ready to go so fast it was incredible. They also have a coffee bar and next to them is an artesian beer facility. Try local and imported beers The espresso machine was vintage with manual pressure feed to the pour head which is tricky is you don't do it right. I timed the shots within 1-2 seconds of each other. And it smelled amazing.
