Bidra med feedbackSet in the Duarte Inn plaza, this simple, cashless spot serves a variety of Indonesian dishes. My favorites are their sorted rice dishes, with a variety of meat vegetables sides. Oh, and the avocado smoothie!
This is a No-Frills type of space. The restaurant has little to no decoration, except some pictures of food on the wall. But don't let the spicy decoration fool you, the food is tasteful and is a good reflection of Indonesian food. Must order CHICKEN SATAY! Was not so moist and juicy satay in a long time. There is a lot of taste of the spices and the grill, but the meat inside is still delicate. I don't know how they do it, but stop good work! It's a must! You can do it either in combo form (which comes 3 spits, rice / milkcake, 2 egg rolls and a salad) or you can take 5 spits from yourself. The combo was nothing special. I would decide for the spits a la carte next time as its more of a starter anyway. I also tried the FRIED FISH CAKE was not your typical fish cake. His fish cake wrapped around an egg yolk and then roasted deep. When they cut it, the cross section looks like a real egg, except that the white parts are fish cakes instead of protein. It sits on a bed of noodles and Vermicelli, with a little sweeter and spicy sauce. An interesting dish. The fish cake tasted not like the usual fish cake, but had a much chewy texture. The noodles were pretty good with the sauce. FRIED RICE was good, but nothing special. I guess they cook their rice a bit on the softer side to make the rice cake, but that ends to make the fried rice a bit on the veil side when they use the same rice. Flavors were pretty good, but the rice is something on the more oily side. CHICKEN RICE BOWL was not good. The chicken was dry, the sauce was too sweet. I don't understand how chicken say was grilled for perfection, but this rice stuff was burned and dry chicken. Don't order. Overall, the food is good. I will definitely come back to try her laksa and try more sati!!
One of my favorite restaurants in the world. My favorite meals are the Nasi Padang, Nasi Bungkus and Chicken Satay Combo. Also the durian smoothies are amaaazziinng when you are in durian!
Hidden jewel in Duarte in a tiny plaza that is easy to miss. Friendly owner and good food. Only cash.
Sadly, closed in 2016. Was an excellent place to get Indonesian food at good prices run by a nice hard-working family.
