Cafe Blackbird - Denison

I had the pleasure of dining at Cafe Blackbird today, and I must say it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Located in the heart of downtown Denison, there is ample street parking, making it easily accessible.Upon entering, I was immediately charmed by the lovely little guest book nestled among shelves of merchandise. What a unique touch! They even have a special offer where you receive a free coffee with the purchase of a new book.The atmosphere at Cafe Blackbird is warm and inviting, and the interactions with the staff were nothing short of friendly. Ordering was a breeze at the counter, and they provide a number for your table, ensuring that your food is delivered promptly.Now, let's talk about the food. We ordered The Hippie sandwich and a half strawberry salad, as well as a half toasted turkey sandwich with a cup of the soup of the day. The portions were more than generous for a quick lunch, and every bite tasted wonderfully fresh. The combination of flavors in each dish was a real treat for the taste buds.Cafe Blackbird has left us eager to return and explore more of their menu options, and I've heard their desserts are not to be missed. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to this charming establishment. You won't be disappointed!

Let me just start with saying, this place is beautiful. There is so much potential for excellence, and it could go really far! That said, their portion sizes are not up to par with the pricing for this market. The biscuit and gravy only came with enough gravy for one biscuit even though we ordered two portions. The tiny sausage cup was also only one patty and not enough for two biscuits. In my experience so far, their espresso drinks are vastly inconsistent. Some days they are good, and some days, they leave something to be desired. The staff is always so welcoming, and the owners are lovely people, I just hope they make a couple of changes to better serve the area. We want them to win! Such a lovely place for sure!

For a 9 dollar BLT, I do expect the lettuce to not be wilted and more bacon on my sandwich. Not impressed at all and definitely not worth it. I do not recommend.
