Mr. Hotdog - Deep River

My friends and I decided to stop by this place on our way to Sudbury. The service was fast, but in exchange we were given the most interesting poutine we have ever eaten. I have never eaten a plate of brown salt gravy and potatoes in my life. We kind of picked out the cheese and headed back on the road.

Based on a friend's recommendation, I decided to try Mr. Hot Dog and I was incredibly pleased with my experience. The poutine was exceptional, with perfectly crispy fries and delicious St. Albert curds. It was the first time I had poutine without overly salty gravy, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would highly recommend trying this place if you are in the area.

I was looking for somewhere to stop on my way back to Ottawa and decided on Mr. Hotdog based on the reviews here. I was completely disappointed. The fries were from a bag and the gravy was relatively tasteless. Even real St. Albert cheese curds couldn't save this poutine. My son's hotdog was good.

I have frequented the Mr. Hotdog in Chalk River since it has opened in 2004. The food is consistently good, always hot and fresh........and the poutine is AMAZING! A generous serving of crispy French fries and REAL cheese curd, with just the right amount of brown gravy. Its simply awesome. The menu has expanded over the years providing a selection for everyone. The burgers are really good too. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. There is plenty of shaded seating and cover if its raining. Washrooms are the bomb.....clean and fresh every time we have been there. I would highly recommend Mr. Hotdog to anyone passing through on Hwy 17 throughout the summer months.

I am a frequent visitor to Chalk River usually three or four times a year. When in the area, I never miss an opportunity to stop at Mr. Hotdog. Mt stops are in the daytime and I am looking for a place that has a luncheon menu not a full restaurant stop.I find their food be of the highest quality, well priced, generous portions and served by courteous and friendly staff. The continual expansion of their menu items always affords me different food to try.When I have completed my lunch stop, there are always clean and well stocked washrooms available. I am more than happy to recommend that anyone driving along Highway
