Bidra med feedbackExtremely crisp benne masala dose . A little restaurant that can seat About 20 people one go . On a busy day there’s a waiting time of 15-20 mins . Expect tasty , yummy an authentic Davanagere dosa . If you are driving you car , there’s some minimal space to park the car right across the other side of the road . Carry your water bottles if you are a bit water conscious.
What can i say more ... first time tasted the famous Benne dosa and what better place than Old Sagar, very tasty and the sides provided potato and chutney really went well with the dosa. The place is a very simple place, no frills ...and a very very small menu just the dosa simple and Beene. Must try for anyone whoever is in the locality and best of all ...its at a dream proce which we will never get in our metros...
This is supposedly one of the oldest Benne Dosa places in Davanagere, and claims to be the real, original, Sagar Benne Dosa place. It is a rundown, unassuming place on a busy main road. You may initially be put off by the look of the place. Also, it is not exactly the neatest and cleanest of places. But it does serve up some the best, most delicious Benne Dosa! Been there a couple of times and we really relished these delicious dosas. Will go there again, if I ever get a chance!
Davangere is well-known in India for its benne dosa, and the old Sagar Benne Dosa Hotel near the old bus stand and Pravasi Mandir is the oldest hotel in Davangere. The taste is superb, and I often visit this hotel regularly. Benne dosa and kali dosa are available at a reasonable price, with a plate of benne dosa costing Rs 45 and kaali dosa only Rs 35. The taste of the palya and chutney is excellent.
During our visit to Davangere, we tried benne dosa at a few places and we especially enjoyed the benne dosa from Old Sagar. Despite the busy breakfast crowd, the service was quick.
