Bidra med feedbackNot to miss. I would have done 4.5 stars but rounded up. You can tell when the people care about their product and this comes through at Valentina. It is a very small restaurant and you probably won’t get in without a reservation. Most tables are for two though there are a couple of larger tables. Once seated you will realize how special the place is. It was started many years ago and preserves the old Peruvian traditions of cooking. Recipes were handed down by Valentina (the restaurant’s namesake) and the flavors are unique. The “traditional soup” is made with a hundred year old recipe. You will be given some amuse bouche’s as well, along with two types of bread. I started with the soup and then tried the guinea pig (for the first time) also known as coy. It was served on a very hot rock (head missing thank goodness). It’s not a lot of meat, but the preparation was expert. It probably tastes closest to rabbit. It will come with potatoes and cheese. My wife had the linguini with native plant sauce and alpaca medallions. The medallions unfortunately were a bit overcooked, but the rest was very good. But, what makes this space special, was Valentina’s grand-daughter. She came over and explained each dish, how it was made and what the meal represents. In a way, you get a bit of a history lesson with your meal. Service is not rushed. If you get a bottle of wine you might want to ask for it to be served sooner as they normally serve it with the main course. We wanted to try the Valentina chocolate dessert, but they did not have it that day.
I ordered a wonderful chicken with mushrooms. Wonderful potatoes and salad. One waitress was dressed Peruvian style The service was good. Restaurant very clean
