Phantom Farms - Cumberland

My wife and I have been going to Phantom Farms for a number of years. After the most recent owners took over, we have seen a decline in service, selection of products offered for sale, and the number of hours of operation. For example, last Sunday we visited an hour before closing time. My wife wanted to order a hot chai. We were told that the espresso machine was shut down for the day. I don’t think it’s right to shut down services an hour before closing. We are disappointed with Phantom Farms since the new ownership took over. We are now looking for someplace else to enjoy a hot chai.

Just a lovely atmosphere! With yummy treats and sandwiches. Smoothies are great too!

Walked in the door at 4:00 to get coffee. I was told the espresso machine was already turned off and couldn’t order a latte. I then tried to order a medium iced coffee and was told they didn’t have enough to even do that. I understand it’s the end of the day and things sell out, but turning off the espresso machine without having back up options seems lazy especially considering they were open for another hour. Very disappointing visit today.

I have been buying pies from Phantom Farms for 20+ years. I noticed the quality of the pies has been going downhill but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered a couple of pies for the 4th. I drove an hour down to go pick them up and boy what a disappointment ! Where did the filling go?? The pies are almost as flat as the pie tin. If I wanted a next to nothing pie I could have gotten them at the grocery store. I also ordered 2 lemon meringue tarts. Another big disappointment! As you can see from the picture the girl who boxed them put a piece of wax paper over the meringue so when we went to take them out of the box all the meringue was stuck to the wax paper! If I wanted them without the meringue I would have just gotten the lemon squares. Needless to say I won’t be going back to Phantom Farms anytime soon and I won’t be recommending them to anyone else.

What happened to the muffins here? I’ve been going here for years every weekend and love this place. But somewhat recently they changed the muffin recipe and have that sticky texture. Maybe its the new ownership? Please go back to the old recipes this is not as good. Great staff, 5 stars otherwise.
