La Balsica - Cuevas del Almanzora

Excellent food, great service and lovely view. We had Lobster Paella and have never had a better one. The waiter was great and we managed to communicate ok being English with a little Spanish.

I wanted a steak meal for my birthday. Several eateries in the vicinity did not have steak on the menu and we stumbled across this amazing restaurant in a great location. The staff were extremely pleasant and attentive. The manager, who was also working hard with the other staff at the front of house, was the son of the owner. Starter was a mixed salad. It really was a mixed salad. I will not list the usual salad items but this salad also included whole walnuts, cashew nuts and diced pieces of tasty cheese. My well portioned steak meal arrived quickly. It was tender and tasty and was cooked to my liking. In fact it arrived a little too quickly as we were still enjoying the delicious salad and I was sipping a nice cold beer. For dessert I opted for a flan with cream and I cheekily asked for ice cream as well. To my surprise it was served with a lit candle and with the staff singing happy birthday to me! A final touch was their offer of a drink of a spirit. I opted for a whisky and was very surprised to get a tumbler half full on the rocks which they did not charged for. I highly recommend this establishment. Ps I have not included my partner's experience as she was also impressed and is to post her own review.

A real gem hidden away from the main streets, just follow google maps. Good is reasonably priced, and a great vibe especially on a hot day with a small harbour on its door step.
