Bidra med feedbackOverall, this was a nice experience to start our New England vacation. The rooms are fine but are starting to show some wear. My 2 comments are how hot the hotel was especially during the night which for me makes it hard to sleep. I suspect that there might be a setting for air conditioning to dial back during the early morning hours before sunrise. The second comment is regarding the breakfast. Service was really slow and I did not enjoy the food. I got the avocado toast and the avocado tasted off. My family felt their breakfast was just okay not the quality of a 5 star hotel. The concierge was really helpful and the staff were friendly.
Lovely staff, beautiful rooms, very clean. The location is more in the financial district of Boston so it's perfect if you are on a business trip. It is a little further from North End and Downtown for sightseeing and restaurants. Towels were a little rough, would have expected better quality for a hotel this nice. Additionally, water temperature was very difficult to keep stable. It took a long time to warm up and then it got way way too hot. Valet was a little rude to us when we were picking up our car. I was not emailed a receipt/folio for my stay and had to call to get one. This should have been easy but I had to talk to two representatives and sat on hold for almost 20 minutes. Overall still an amazing hotel and great time was had.
This is our first visit to the hotel in 4 years. Certain aspects of the hotel remain superb. Patrick, the senior Bell Boy co-ordinates activities out side the hotel. The conciege staff led by Rob along with Adam are full of suggestions and keen to assist. Some reception staff are willing to help and others lack some basic knowledge on the hotel. In time, this might improve. Yaro the reception manager is aware of these shortcomings. IHG Ambassador status was not dully recognised despite contacting the hotel prior to our visit. There is a well equipped gym, spa and pool on the 2nd level. The biggest let down is the food and beverage offering. Breakfast on the first floor is basic with limited choice and no pride in the selection or presentation. The choice of breakfast is exactly the same in The Club Lounge where it is self service. The Club Lounge whilst presenting snacks and food in an attractive manner throughout the day, does not label any hot or cold food and there are insufficient utensils to avoid cross contamination from meat and cheese. If you have any dietary concerns and avoid certain foods, the lounge is not for you. Soft drinks are provided in the lounge along with tea and coffee. Sparkling water is not chilled and is available on request. The common area around the rooms are littered with used room service trays and staff clear these infrequently. The Hotel whilst having some superb staff, has really let standards slip and does not pay attention to detail. The rooms are cleaned thoroughly and housekeeping, after 2 calls do accomodate requests. Evening turn down is hit or me. I do have doubts that on returning to Boston, this will be my hotel of choice.
My wife and I have gone to this intercontinental in Boston about 35 times in the last 10-12 years. And we always pay extra to have access to the Club Lounge. The extra cost was typically $75-100 dollars pre Covid. Now it 's $150/night. Which is still fine. But some little things have been removed. The weekend omelet station and newspapers. Also the small refrigerator stocked with Fiji water. And down in the lobby for years was a store with typical snacks and toiletries you may need. As well as lot 's of unique and boutique type clothing for men and women. And all the Boston sports team logo wear. Now no store. Overall we still love the hotel, the service and the location. But losing the little things changes the feeling of 4 stars.
We stayed for 2 nights here. The location is excellent to explore the historical sites of Boston. The tea party museum is a 5 min walk along the water (from the back entrance of the hotel) and Long Warf, Fanueil Hall, North End are just a few minutes longer walk. The rooms are comfortable and IHG diamond status was recognized. We chose the breakfast amenity and ordered off the a la cart menu. The food was great. It was pretty busy, so it took a few minutes to be seated both days. This seems to be a popular hotel for weddings. We were happy with our stay.
