Bidra med feedbackThis restaurant is located at Federal Hill inside a beautiful Victorian home. They served Italian bread and butter to start. I then got the chicken escarole soup instead of salad. They both were okay, but nothing special about it. Plus the soup was not hot; in all fairness to the restaurant, we were on a bus trip and they were serving 50 of us. I had the stuffed sole which was delicious. The stuffing was tasty and filling. It was a crab meat stuffing. The roasted potatoes was also very good. I had the Tiramisu for desserts and it was also very good. It was very creamy.
I think this place is pretty underrated. We get take out from here quite often recently had a large ordered catered for my sister's birthday. Not only do I never have any issues here but they always get it right! Every time I order take out from other restaurant's they constantly make mistakes- but not this place. The staff and employees are knowledgeable, kind and on top of it. Not to mention the food is AMAZING. The chicken parmigiana is excellent! Chicken franchise is a close second. The sauce is great! The portions are HUGE you can't beat the prices!!! One of my favorite places to order take out!
We went out for lunch today and wanted to try someplace either new or that we hadn't been to in a while. We are also not ready to dine inside a restaurant because of high-risk health issues so we rode around Cranston for quite a while trying to find someplace to eat. We saw the sign in front of this restaurant that said they had patio dining Wednesday through the weekend I believe and so we were happy to stop and have lunch. We were the only ones out there in the back. They made it look like a cute little patio with a fence and bushes around the edge and tables with umbrellas. We went inside and talked to the hostess and she seated us. They had some specials and Mike had a veal dish that was excellent. And I should mention that he had the calamari as well. And that was very good with lots of peppers if you like the pepper rings. I ordered the farmers special which was an appetizer. Wasn't exactly on diet as it did have slices of nice Italian bread on it but they were served over white beans in a delicious sauce and the bread slices had a slice of tomato on each one. It was so delicious, I always love that for a meal. I don't know how anyone could eat it for an appetizer because it is so much and so filling. We both brought half of our meals home and we'll enjoy them later. I was happy to be able to go back to this restaurant and eat outside safely. We had good service and delicious food as always.
This restaurant serves the best version of Aglio e Olio, hands down! It's not on the menu, ironically, but you go ahead and ask for it. Add your protein, if you prefer. I like it pure. Sooo good is an understatement. This restaurant is located right in the Providence area where Italian restaurants abound. If you have had enough of Federal Hill and have not stepped inside this beautiful restaurant, you are missing out.
I live locally but had never been to Spiritos, although the name was familiar. The location is a bit hokey, which explained why I had not noticed it before. Apparently, it was formerly located in Providence. Currently, it is housed in a VFW hall, atop a hill and not visible from the street. My grandson and I decided to check it out and had a little confused difficulty finding our way into the dining room. We parked in front of what appeared to be the main (and only) entrance. Inside, there was a large dining/function room straight ahead with limited activity. A hostess asked if we were there for a civic event or dinner. She then directed us to head downstairs and thru the bar. After opening a door to a dark unused room, we eventually found the stairway, which did not appear to be in public use and was not the prettiest..... Alas, we arrived, as instructed, in a bar. We walked thru and finally discovered the dining room! Lo and behold, there was another entrance that led directly to this area, on the slide of the building and on a lower level. We were seated immediately and the staff was very friendly. The decor is rustic with an air of coziness. I loved that the waitress put a bottle of chilled water in the table before fetching our drinks. The menu was very interesting and impressive Old School Italian, for sure! It was not an easy decision, but I decided on the Gnocchi Sorrentino: Heavenly little cheesy pillows of pasta tossed with ricotta cheese and topped with thin slices of breaded eggplant. The sauce was amazingly good and that's saying something from a girl who lives amid the best Italian restaurants in the country! The dinner salad was also very good, with fresh ingredients and a delicious blue cheese dressing. My entry was large enough to provide lunch the following day as well. My grandson, in true form, chose the Chicken Fingers and Fries from the kids menu. I scored a bite of the chicken (all in the name of research, of course) and it was really good. He's a bottomless pit, so had room for dessert and ordered a chocolate molten lava cake sort of thing that looked amazing and lasted only a couple of minutes. The prices were reasonable and we'll definitely return especially now that I know how to find the dining room. My only complaint is that they could benefit from better signage to direct people to the proper entrance for their visit.
