Bidra med feedbackExcellent service and wonderful food. We were staying in St Mellion and thought we’d try Saltash for dinner. Found this gem of an Indian restaurant.
Located in the center of the town, this restaurant provides excellent service and a friendly atmosphere. While the menu is not extensive, it includes all the classic dishes as well as some unique specialties. I ordered the lamb chops to start and they were disappointing - no meat on them at all. Although I considered complaining, the staff were so pleasant that I decided not to. For my main course, I had the reliable chicken biryani with a side of mushrooms. It was average, not outstanding but decent.
Without a doubt, this was the worst curry I have ever eaten in my fifty years of trying them in both India and the UK. The vegetable biryani was lacking in vegetables, with only peas and onions included. Typically, you would expect a variety of seasonal vegetables. The sauce was watery and flavorless, requiring me to ask for seasoning for the first time. Most of the meals served to our party of six were bland at best. While every restaurant can have an off day, it was obvious that there is a issue in the kitchen.
The curry at this restaurant is excellent. The ingredients are very fresh and the level of spice is just right. I asked for extra heat and I definitely got it - it was almost too much for me to handle, but it was delicious!
