Bidra med feedbackWhat a delight it was to find this family run place, that is eccentric and very individualistic while still catering to what I'd call a baseline of cuisine options. One gets the sense the proprietors just decided on a limited menu of things they liked to cook, a little something for everyone, and have just stuck to that and done everything very, very well. The variety, for example, runs from regional standards like poutine (deliciously done with what appeared to be scratch made gravy and unusually good cheese curds , PEI mussels, and smoked meat (on brioche! to some Filipino classics (Adobo! Pansit! to recipes straight out of Julia Child (salmon with hollandaise, eggs benedict, chicken cordon bleu to a delicious house special of the only found in Cornwall Cornwall pizza (Edward's, well recommended to some nouvelle (a lovely beet salad, a brilliant quinoa paella breakfast melange to a good old fashioned club sandwich (a dying art . I was particularly taken with the soup of the day a tomato basil that sounds plain, but which had the most delicious combination of savory and slightly piquant spicing that was quite unexpected and very welcome. Really unusual. And I take it well that the other chef's special soup was out positive proof it's made in small batches fresh. Everything was very tasty, hot out of the kitchen, and fresh. All this with friendly service (well handled in the front of a house by a single server we think one of the owners, with a kitchen assistant bringing some things out and unbelievably good prices (low double digits C$ on everything, which made it very affordable in US$ . The decor is a little odd, and the place is a shotgun with only a front window (have they moved? the place looks nothing like previous photos posted here in Yelp , but the vibes and food more than make up for the somewhat strange ambiance. The diners were a mixed crowd as well, and it's always nice to see a place that attracts people on lunch break from their business and students and layabout tourists such as ourselves all in one delicious mix.
Omg, this place is amazing! My husband and I had lunch here and we absolutely loved it! The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Service was very welcoming and friendly, and the bistro is so cute! I had the salmon filet $14) and my husband had the 10 oz ribeye steak $19). The salmon filet came with vegetables, which were green beans, carrots and beets, and was atop a bed of white and wild rice, and covered in Hollandaise sauce. Where do I even begin? The Hollandaise sauce was buttery and citrusy, and I usually complain about too much sauce at restaurants, but I loved the sauce here, and it was just the right amount. The rice was fluffy and delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the veggies were a nice al dente. This dish was so good! My husband loved his steak. He ordered it medium rare and it was cooked just to his liking. He liked it so much that he didn't even offer me any, lol. His dish came with the same vegetables as mine, and also roasted potatoes. We were served by the owners themselves a husband and wife duo). We chatted with them a bit and they seem like such genuinely nice people. They had a restaurant in Gatineau Quebec) for 5 years, but then moved to Cornwall where they have been running Edward's Bistro for almost a year. We did not know about their restaurant in Gatineau and I regret not eating there when they were just across the river we live in Ottawa). Now we have to drive over an hour to get to Cornwall if we want to eat there. Cornwall is very lucky to have them. If they were in Ottawa, we would be eating there every week! They make everything from scratch, and use local ingredients, yet keep their prices affordable, which makes me a huge fan. I highly recommend Edward's Bistro! What a gem!
Everything about this place is great! It's very nice and comfortable inside. The service is great, the food is delicious and their prices can't be beat. Everything is fresh and made from scratch, including their ketchup. You really get the impression they care about every little detail even their salt shakers aren't filled with regular salt. They use Himalayan pink salt. My husband ordered a seafood omelette and It was a very generous size and included five colossal shrimp which we found to be very generous. Talk about bang for your buck! I had their adobo chicken sandwich that was delicious and their accompanying hand cut french fries were superb. If I lived in the area I would definitely be a frequent flyer.
Love this place. Love all the fresh ingredients. Everything homemade from ketchup to roasting their own coffee beans. Best eggs Benedict! Best hamburger and pest pizza!
This is now my favourite place in town for brunch or supper! The service is warm and friendly, the menu has a wide assortment of foods to choose from and at a nice price too! I had carbonara over spaghetti for supper with chocolate mousse as desert. The following day I returned for brunch and got eggs benedict on a croissant with bacon and home fries. They even have home made ketchup and jam! The food came faster than expected, was served hot, and was absolutely delicious! I would 10/10 recomend this place to anyone who wants an amazing meal for a reasonable price!
