Bidra med feedbackPros: Property is decent with decent size room and lawns. It is closer to Hampi ruins. But that’s about it, it’s all downhill from there on. Cons: The worst is service. Checked in to find not a single towel in room. After calling Housekeeping couple...of times were told it will take couple of hours to provide towels. They are always short of staff or items. Attitude of waiters is of typical govt babus. Does not matter whether item is available in kitchen or not, if the waiter does not want to serve, they will just tell you item is not available, although table next to you who came after you, can be found ordering and eating it. Could not get a dosa in breakfast in 3 days. They will ask you to pay bill after each meal rather than just charging to the room. For complimentary breakfast, they will keep a close watch on how much you are eating. Felt like they are doing us a favour by giving complimentary breakfast. My toddler kid broke a water glass and the first reaction of waiter was “charge karo inko”. I lost it and gave old man a piece of mind. I insisted on paying for glass and they had no face to charge for it. Oh and did I tell you that food is tasteless. It is highly overpriced for what they have to offer. I think these KSTDC hotels are only for sarkari babus who can flaunt their status and get these guys to be at their best behaviour. For lesser mortals like us, they don’t give a damn.
Had booked and paid for 2 nights in a semi deluxe room When shown the room there was a distinct bad smell, it was very dark so asked to see another room. Told by indifferent and unsmiling staff (government run hotel) we could upgrade to...a deluxe room (at considerable more cost) shown deluxe room only difference seemed to be it was larger towels grey and threadbare, bedding definitely not white, leaking cistern in bathroom and cardboard in bathroom window as glass was broken. Went back to reception and said we would sit in the garden area and discuss before making a decision. We said we would like a cold beer much appreciated beer bar mentioned in Lonely Planet beer fridge empty, sold out and didn 't know when they would have a delivery and as government run could not go and get more beers, have to wait for delivery. As they were unable to go and buy some beers and the hotel was up a long drive we said we 'd be leaving. Told as government run no refund. Booked into a privately run hotel nearby and had the best experience of friendly, efficient and happy staff. Room, towels and sheets very clean and rates a third of the price.
I recently visited Hotel Mayur Bhuvaneshwari and was impressed by its beautiful garden view. The establishment is very clean and hygienic, and the food was delicious with excellent service.
I had lunch during my day visit of hampi. Its a government hotel nearby Kamlapur. Food n Service was average which needs to be improved. Restaurant is divided into two parts. One is inside room where AC is there n and in front of that open rooftop part. Recommended for families.
This KSTDC hotel is situated conveniently close to the Archeological Museum, The Vithala Temple, the Virupaksha Temple and other major sites. It is about 12 to 15 kms from Hospet Railway station ( Bargain for an auto @ Rs 150 from station to hotel ) . The rooms are comfortable but the maintanence and room service could be better. The food at the restaurant though limited are ok. The free breakfast is frugal consisting of Vada, Idli, Upma and Omelette with tea or coffee. The intercom does not work so you have to walk to the restaurant to order your bed tea !!! There is a sight seeing bus which charges Rs 350 per person but it is advisable to hire a auto for the full day @ Rs 1000 and at 3 normal sized person it works out cheaper. ( If you are one or two person on the heavier side, a normal person can share the driver's set ) The staff are very helpful and even allow you to use their computer to make online railway bookings. Will certainly recomend it.
