Bidra med feedbackDo yourself a favor and eat here. This is far and away our favorite Italian spot in Atlanta. It never disappoints with food and service. You can get seating on the patio or bar if things like open table don’t show availability. Just give them a call :
We have been coming to La Grotta for a few years now to celebrate milestones, birthdays, etc. It has always been our go to Italian place and we have always recommended it to people! Tonight, we took my in laws to dinner here for their first time. Our reservation was at 5:30 and I was terribly unimpressed this time. I don’t know what has changed or what has happened to the service but it just was not it. First off, I never got our severs name but I found him to be a bit rude and impatient. He was standing behind my husband and he had asked if we were ready to order and we were all discussing if we wanted to wait for the appetizers and whatnot and i saw him roll his eyes. At another point he made a face like he was just annoyed. Anyways, each time I have gone here I have always ordered the Veal Chop Parmesan. It was not great at all, when I cut it the cheese and breading was separating from the veal. It wasn’t that hot either. I absolutely loved the veal chop parmesan here so I don’t know what has happened with the food and service here. The gnocchi was very good and the sacchetti was good too. Anyways, for $500+ it wasn’t worth it. I’ve gone from a loyal customer to possibly never returning again.
Management was very accommodating, food not up to par at that price point. Service friendly, slow and could not answer basic questions about wine. Served us a wonderful birthday surprise. Dress of other patrons a little surprising?
Listen, I know that you can see by my reviews that I can be critical. But when I spend $150 on a meal, I would like for it to be good. I didn’t realize that this restaurant was attached to a nursing home. I feel like for the residents of a nursing home, this food is probably OK. But, Outside of a nursing home, this was no bueno. The thing about tomato sauce is, when it’s fresh, it’s never brown. I attached a picture so you can see for yourself, but I was a little confused as to whether this was tomato sauce or barbecue sauce all over the chicken Parmesan. Brown tomato sauce means it’s old. There’s no other way around it. So this is either being made days ahead and frozen and then thawed and reheated, or it’s just being left sitting for hours on end, but either way it is not fresh, and it is overrun with salt . The wait staff was friendly, but I’m not sure why they’re serving unchilled sparkling water on a day where it’s 93° out at 8 PM and the humidity index is through the roof. Also, I realize that when you’re sitting outside, you’re exposing yourself to the elements. But large ants crawling all over our feet while you are eating means that some level of pesticide is needed. Anyway, like I said, the wait staff was friendly, and if I had known that this was a nursing home we wouldn’t have gone. And as far as nursing homes go, I’m sure this would be viewed as acceptable. But outside of a nursing home it just isn’t. And if I’m wrong, and for some crazy reason, this isn’t a nursing home, then pardon me. But the smell in the lobby and the elevator reeked of assisted-living facility.
This is the worst so called Italian restaurant, I am Italian and this is NOT good at all, service was bad as well just not only the food, I wish we can review this kind of restaurant with negative stars… please change the name to “mediocrity restaurant”.
