Bistrot Du Chateau - Compiègne

You have relatiw low expectations at restaurants near major tourist attractions such as the chateau de compiègne. so our lunch here, just a few steps from the castle, not only exceeded expectations, it broke away a stereotype of restaurants in tourist places. we were three, plus dog, without reservation, arriving at the top of the lunch hour. we were ready for a cool greeting, but in the fact we were immediately and cordially picked to a table where we were treated as honored guests. eating is excellent; not a false note about three different appetizers, net and desserts. service is timely, but not hastened, and the ambiente is cozy, but not in the class missing. after the amount (our table was the last available), we are not the only fans of the bistrot du cheateu. highly recommended.

Best meal we had during our last trip to France. it was divine. nice ambiente and the young waiter who served us was enthusiastic, very patient and charming with his non-french customers. good choices on this quality menu. would highly recommend if you eat for somewhere when visiting compiegne.

The Chef Patron here retired from a busy kitchen some years ago and became bored with life so opened a small bistro where good food is served without the drama of some more expensive establishments. Friendly staff who helped us with our poor French through...the menu ensuring that we ended up with what we were expecting.
