Bidra med feedbackSuch an interesting concept and even more thoughtfully executed. It really is a unique little bar that is built around a fun atmosphere for guests. The staff is also extremely nice and knowledgeable. I got an alcoholic slushies and got to sit next to a porthole I'm not sure many people get to say that's something they've experienced in their life so on experience alone 5/5 and once you add in that the drink I had was also immaculate I wish I could rate them higher
I was excited to go here at first, but then was surprised to find that this place shows the movie 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea on loop, featuring Captain Nemo played by an actor in heavy blackface pretty uncomfortable to watch. Also, it took 25+ minutes for us to get an order of Ohio Nachos covered in room temp and congealing cheese sauce.
One word HORRIBLE! The staff was horrible the food was worse. The only way they survive is they are beside the movie theater.
I came across this hidden gem after they ran out of tickets to see JOKER. (Should have bought them ahead of time. My bad. We had an hour and a half until the next show time and saw the sign for the Torpedo Room. We walked over to this submarine-themed speakeasy in the heart of a movie theatre and were blown away. I have gone to Ohio State for 3.5 years and had no idea this little spot existed. So cool! The Torpedo Room has one of the larger rotating taps in the University District and has a solid food menu as well. Unfortunately, they were experiencing very high demand due to JOKER and were out of a lot of their beers/cocktails. I won't hold it against them because I'm sure this little gem is typically well-stocked. Our waitress was extremely kind and held a conversation with us the whole time. I almost didn't want to leave a review because I selfishly want this place to myself. However, if you are swinging by the Gateway for a movie, The Torpedo Room is certainly worth checking out!
I've honestly never been here bit the name alone gets it 5 stars.
