I am writing this review for a reservation we had in November 2020 at Refectory, one of our favorite restaurants in Columbus. We always receive exceptional service (especially from Joseph, whom we adore) and the overall atmosphere is unique. We typically visit for special events, bring our family to enjoy what Refectory has to offer, and especially come for the outstanding food. However, during our November visit, we were disappointed with the new menu. The dishes were more like tapas, which is fine, but the prices were higher for smaller portions. While this isn't necessarily a negative, we have always been fans of the original menu which included dishes like the duo filets, dover sole, and pistachio dessert - items we always looked forward to. We made the reservation in November for my birthday, hoping to enjoy these favorites. We understand that certain ingredients may be hard to obtain due to COVID, but we did not enjoy the new menu at all. Everything else about our experience was as excellent as always, but we will likely hold off on returning until the original menu and classic dishes are back. We eagerly look forward to that day!
