Bidra med feedbackWe made reservations on Mother's Day. After being seated we were completely ignored for 15 minutes until I caught a server on her way by, she passed us off to another server who came by five minutes later to ask for our drink orders. We asked to order our food at the same time as we have been waiting a while. Another half hour had gone by and other tables had received their food having arrived well after us. The door to the patio was wide open on a particularly windy day making the dining area freezing. I had both my mom and my wife there, and while the hostess was handing roses out to all mothers she handed one to my mom (and our kids right there.... she's clearly a mom) and said that she had run out and couldn't give one to my wife. We then watched her go to the back, come back out with more roses and continued handing them out. I don't get to see my mom very often and this was the place that we chose for our lunch... it ruined the day for us, I will never return nor recommend this place to anyone. The food was average but the service and treatment was horrific.
Never had a bad meal here. JJ and Sheldon do a great job. Regular international specials are always good (even if not necessarily authentic). Steak sandwich special is a great value and the burgers are the best in town.
This place is pretty ok, but needs a little guiding of your expectations in order to get you to your happy place. The Hotel looks great! I love the authentic western rustic feel of this place. It 's as if you walked into and old west saloon. It was the look of the place that initially drew us over. As we approached we saw a nice patio to sit in the sunshine along the main road. That got us to the menu. After reading about the promise of a homecooked steak and potatoes and good down home western fare, I was in! After eating... well the hotel still looked cool and the patio was sure great but this was by no means a Steakhouse . We were recommended the steak sandwich and both went with it. It was good, sure. But about as good as I would expect as the steakhouse special from any pub out there. The fries were quite frozen tasting with no seasoning. I though this might be a nice feature because you get to add as much or as little salt as you desire, but they still came of like large bites of potatoes. I didn 't finish them. The veggies that come with are steamed cauliflower adn brocolli. As far as I could tell, that was it... just regular ol ' cauliflower and brocolli, steamed rubbery and flavourless. I didn 't finish that either. It was a pretty run of the mill steak cooked around medium, regardless of how we ordered it. I know this sounds negative but don 't get me wrong. The food was fine, the service was completely friendly and above average... it just wasn 't a steakhouse to me. A pub? A saloon? sure why not? Is this the place the locals go in the western days do drink whiskey and bust chairs over each others heads? Sure! Just please don 't make me think I 'm going to get a quality dining experience and we 'll get along just fine. I 'd come back again. The atmosphere is cool. If you 're stopping off in Cochrane on a motorcycle trip, this just feels like the right place to go into when your adourned in your leathers. Get a drink and hand out on the patio with a beer and enjoy the emotional pop-jazz music... yah... that part was kind of out of place too.
