Bidra med feedbackWent in for lunch today. Vastly overpriced for below average food. The scenic location does not justify the lack of imagination or inflated pricing.
The renowned Blarney Woollen Mills retail outlet in Bunratty, County Clare is a must-visit just off the M18. The building also houses the Hummingbird Cafe on the upper floor, offering a range of refreshments for hungry travelers and day trippers. Unfortunately, our visit on August 15th left much to be desired. While the food display was enticing and the Covid-19 safety measures were in place, the outdoor dining area was less than satisfactory. Despite the scenic views of Bunratty Castle, the dirty surroundings, unclean tables, and lack of maintenance detracted from our dining experience. Staff members seemed more interested in the indoor cafe than attending to the outdoor area. However, the food itself was delicious and reasonably priced. In conclusion, the location and parking were convenient, the retail unit was excellent, but the Hummingbird Cafe could benefit from a more attentive floor manager. The toilets were clean, and the food was tasty and worth the money, but the outdoor dining area needs improvement for a more enjoyable experience.
This restaurant is a spacious establishment situated next to Bunratty Castle and historical park. It is a popular destination for tour buses. They offer a diverse range of clothing and souvenirs for tourists. One drawback I encountered is the lack of regulations in Europe regarding country of origin. As a result, it is difficult to determine if your cherished Irish memento was actually made in Ireland or Vietnam. Some items appear authentically Irish, while others may not be.
I stopped by for lunch after visiting the castle in the morning. There was no visible menu or prices displayed, just a breakfast menu that was taped up. I found the price of €7.50 for a croque monsieur to be quite high. The restaurant was clean and nicely set up, but overall I did not feel like it was good value for the money.
Lovely atmosphere, great food. In a nice setting. Will definitely be back again, decent cup of coffee too
