The Grosvenor Arms - Chester

This place is a countryside gem of a pub. The staff are friendly and attentive. The venue is amazing with a lovely, sprawling outdoor garden and patio great for dogs! (Who are also allowed inside woof). And if you ask at the bar, they will give your dog treatos. Nice selection of ales on tap. There's a good range of different items on the menu, although I knocked a star off as the dumplings in broth I had was unbelievably salty... I dined at their sister venue, the architect, the previous day and had the same issue with the risotto there. Other than that I can't fault the Grovsnor at Aldford. And it's nice to have some vegan options that aren't the same, boring things you get everywhere. I can highly recommend walking along the River Dee from Chester to here, it takes about 2 hours each way and the pub in the middle is a great pay off! Vegetarian options: Lots of options Kid friendliness: There is a big park for kids to play on right behind the pub. I think there was a tractor in the pub garden for children to play on too (obviously not a working tractor).

We've been coming here for many years, and it's always been fantastic. The food is always and still remains wonderful. The portions are big, and the choice of starters and nibbles are so delicious. It's always a hard one to pick as having a main course. Your eyes can get bigger than the belly. Dont get me started in the puddings). The Sunday roasts were gorgeous and plenty, and I love the fact that they ask if you would like extra gravy when you are served. On Sundays, they are busy, so please be patient. Relax, enjoy. Thank you for another wonderful weekend. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and we will definitely be coming again..

Fantastic eating in a beautiful environment. both inside and outside seats. beautiful character building, beautiful hiking trails near and many parking spaces available. will go back to any case.
