Hetty's Cafe

First time visit.......we just wanted coffee and a cake, ....there was a poor choice of cakes though...scone or sponge cake, we were told all the other cakes were frozen ? ? ? ? Having said this, the drinks and cakes we did manage to procure...were very nice....although, they still managed to forget to bring my scone and my husband had finished his cake by the time I got mine.

Well......we struggled to find a table because so many tables were uncleared with the staff just drifting about. The floor looked like it had hosted a chimps tea party. There were crumbs and food debris located in places that I am sure had not appeared...that day. Would not go here again!

Stop here often on the way to Chester, and have always been more than happy with the food (which is excellent) and service, there was always such a lovely atmosphere. However since the place has changed hands they seem to be trying to create a...much more formal restaurant vibe which just feels awkward. Most of the staff we used to like and have some rapport with seem to have disappeared as well, we only ever see one girl now who is extremely slow, and largely ignores us. The lovely young man who used to be the manager appears to be a big loss, he was always brilliant. Really hope the place returns to the cosy atmosphere we used to love it for! It was heads and shoulders above local competition before and now we're struggling to want to return.

Haven't been to blakemere in a while and was expecting coffee and cake. What a lovely surprise. Leek mushrooms and blue sticks Wellington. Deliteful flavours beautifully cooked and not extortionate !

Warm friendly atmosphere. Friendly staff, although service sometimes takes longer than it should. Wonderfull food.
