Bidra med feedbackThe Pozole is pretty tasty, came with a lot of meat! The little sauce is also nice, not crazy spicy but flavorful. They have real tostadas too. I wanna try the tacos next
We went in to the restaurant to order several tacos. At least 8 or 12. We walk in and sat down, and looked at the menu at the two main tables available right across from the counter. We already knew we wanted hard shell tacos, it was just a matter of deciding on what toppings and things we would like to put on them. The waitress came over and tried to interact with us, but spoke very little english. We tried to explain our order to her and she had trouble and asked us to walk to the counter. We went to the counter, and when somebody finally came to speak with us, the female that approached us did not really understand our order either. I understand there are different languages and different cultures anywhere you go in america, but it was very difficult to try to get the order across. Point being, when we finally got a communication gap cleared, they told us they did not have any hard shell tacos. Mind you, it was Saturday afternoon when they just had opened within an hour or so. I understand language gaps, I understand food shortage on products. It just seemed more of a hassle to try to get the order across and then find out that they didn't even have hard shell tacos. In my opinion I would think that would be the number one thing on your list, hard shell tacos, check! Never tried their food so I don't want to say anything other than that it just seems like maybe they would try to accommodate the other people in the area that are not as fluent in Spanish and to maybe possibly have more hard shell tacos.
Coming here reminded me of coming to some of my favorite taco shops in San Diego. It's about the closest I have found in Hampton Roads to real TJ style street tacos. It's a small restaurant with limited seating but the aroma is delightful. Almost all of your authentic taco shop favorites are there. Even the beehive drink containers full of horchata and tamarindo are there. The service and prices certainly make it worth a visit. Then once you're done, just walk two steps over and go to the Mexican convenience store!
I came here hoping to find an authentic Mexican restaurant. I was not disappointed. Out of the many different places I have visited in Hampton roads, this place offers the most authentic and delicious experience. The restaurant workers are super nice, speaking both English and Spanish. They have you place the order at the window and then bring the food out to your table. I had menudo which can be a hit or miss. The menudo definitely hit the spot.
Really good tacos and quick service : we will be backFood: 5/5
