Cafe Du Cycliste - Châteauneuf-Grasse

Walking by the port in Nice, my friends and I stumbled across this lovely cafe and bike rental place.

On était ici dimanche pour boire des petites bières avant de manger à midi et nous avons demandé à la patronne si elle avait un numéro de téléphone pour un taxi pour nous emmener à l'Auberge des Gorges du Loup. Elle a essayé plusieurs numéros sans succès avant qu'un client lui donne un autre numéro. Elle a téléphoné de notre part et a commandé un taxi. Elle et un autre membre du personnel nous ont tenus au courant du progrès du taxi avant son arrivée. Nickel!

Well placed cafe in Pres de Lac, inside or out, a good spot to watch the world go by whilst sipping a coffee.

Bon repas frais et bien cuisiné une bonne brasserie à refaire. Nous avons pris le menu du jour gigot purée vitelotte et crème brûlée le tout fait maison et généreux bonne ambiance

We searched this place out specifically as my husband had researched bike shops before we arrived in Nice and had come up with this one. Unfortunately, he read the website info wrongly and so on the Sunday, we arrived here at 3 pm, just after it had closed and not just after it had opened! Not to be deterred, we came back on Monday! It IS a cyclists dream: you can hire bikes here, turn up to take part in their weekend clubrundays, men and women, and browse the range of top end clothing on display- very stylish and very expensive! Think Rapha prices. Cycling photos adorn the walls and screens show previous TDF races etc. Primarily the clientele is folk in cycling gear but thankfully for me, you can get a decent coffee, juice and cake, much needed after plodding here in the heat!
