Zume's Coffee House - Charlestown

I was really disappointed to find that Zumes isn't the same as it used to be. I used to live in Charlestown and decided to stop by while I was in the area. Unfortunately, the staff was incredibly rude, which I couldn't believe. My breakfast sandwich was so dry that it was almost inedible. I politely went to the side counter to request a pack of butter and waited for about 2-3 minutes, not wanting to be a bother. Suddenly, I noticed they were waiting at the register to charge me 25 cents for the butter. I was confused as to why they didn’t just indicate that I should come over—I was just standing there, waiting, and so was the staff member. I was shocked that even though my sandwich was unappetizing, she remained unapologetic and still charged me for the butter. I really want to support small businesses, and it wasn't about the money—it was the entire strange experience. What I had hoped would be a relaxing coffee stop turned out to be uncomfortable and disappointing. I won’t be returning unless I hear that their staff has changed.

I spent $10 plus tip on an iced coffee and a stale coffee cake. When I went back to the counter to ask for a cup of water, they tried to charge me for it. No thanks. I wanted to support a local business, but I hope someone else takes over this place. The staff weren't friendly at all.

The egg sandwich was delicious, the bagels with lox were excellent, and the coffee was quite good. The atmosphere is inviting, and the staff are very friendly. It's a great spot for a quick and relaxing breakfast.

This coffee shop offers an excellent variety of gluten-free choices. Their coffee is crafted with care, and the staff is incredibly friendly.
