This review is not about the camping site, which is very good, but about the restaurant, which is very bad. We came there with a group of four adults and four kids and immediately liked the nice situation of the restaurant at the small lake. We also liked our friendly server, sometimes, however, we needed to re-order things a couple of times. Not a problem. Three kids menues (fries, chicken nuggets, steak hache etc. were prefabricated, of average quality and did arrive after some reasonable waiting time. Probably, these items were produced in the cheap snack bar next door, but we do not know and cannot confirm this. Either way, not a real problem. The four adults and one kid that was left behind waited for more than two hours for their dishes. And the food was not worth the wait. Portions were small, losely fit the description, lacked some key ingredients, and the meat was not great but generally okayish. The side dishes, however, were very obviously the kitchen rests of a long day: old potatoes which were soaking with fat and something that looked like, perhaps, parsnip. But, given the poor state of these kitchen rests, this was very difficult to tell. Given the very late delivery of the dishes (BTW: any other party had overtaken us by now , the poor correspondence of menu desriptions and the food delivered, and the really annoying side dishes, we complained a bit. Did I also mention that the one kid that was still waiting with us instead of rice, which she likes and which she ordered, also got the potatoe-parsnip-something, which no one likes and which she did not order? Responding to these complaints, another waitress informed us that we reserved only in the evening and not in the afternoon so that there cannot be any rice. We found that difficult to follow. Most likely, the kitchen simply lacked the energy and motivation required to prepare a little bit of rice. We believe in direct communication and thus tried to talk to the management. These complaints, however, did not reach the chef. Our server, clearly looking a bit freightened, told us “The chef is angry, he won’t talk to you.” (And he had obviously been angry even BEFORE we complained. This is exactly the reason why our feedback now needs to come as an angry online review. Below the line, the problem very clearly seems to be the poor organization of the kitchen and conflicts among the employees. We believe that restaurants cannot merely print bills; they also need to deliver and should be responsive to their guests. In this current, disorganized state we can obviously only recommend against choosing the Chateau le Verdoyer restaurant.
A long, long time ago we came to you (with the albatross) great memories of, for example, the wild meadow, Rob on the tractor, your 3 children... the hospitality, and the delicious sandwiches and croissants in the morning, Mariet? what wonderful weeks we spent with you for a few years, there was no swimming pool yet, as far as the reviews are concerned, I think a lot has changed... we didn't miss that at all, there was the lake, right? Later, without children, we suddenly dropped in on you again during the high season, 1999? we were recognized after all these years, and we were so welcome again! Kind regards from us! maybe see you someday!! Kuipers family.
Pleasant campsite, with trees, with large pitches. The quality/price ratio is correct. Great facilities for children, especially for the toilets, which is not common. An entertainment team for children who are dynamic and committed. Several pools with different depths, which is good for little kids, toddlers and adults! The campsite has a snack bar and a restaurant. A small minimalist store, delivery every morning of fresh bread and pastries.
The rooms have very nicely renovated and are very comfortable.
