Fomi's Bakery - Central Kootenay H

What a fantastic bakery! You can drive right by and miss it - and evidently my husband has done so as he has visited his sister over the years.

When driving down the autobahn, we always pass by the Fomis sign without much thought. However, out of curiosity, we finally decided to stop and we are now regulars whenever we are in the area. This family-run bakery and café is cozy and inviting, whether you're sitting down with a coffee and enjoying the view or just grabbing some bread to go. They offer a wide selection of breads and rolls, and the assortment of pastries and desserts is absolutely delicious. It's definitely worth a stop for a quick bite or to indulge in some sweets.

Love all European style pastries. Top-notch and a big reason to visit the slocan valley! come here as often as possible.

We came after riding on the train. let me say. don't let the bikeway use! very steep and not at all trimmed, we managed to push our bikes through the clouds of mosquitoes and weeds, but it was so worth it! we had lunch, but later we had to return with the vehicle to get what we really wanted. they have frozen meal times, of which I bought chili and bready (both tasty) plus sweets, broth, biscuits and rolls. I bought some of all the categories and while on the rest of our holiday we fixed on these delicious tasty. I recommended that my brother who lives in castlegar must stop. we're coming back. they are not open on Sunday, Monday.

We stopped by this place for some desserts - definitely high in calories. Situated outside of the town in a beautiful setting, you have the option to dine in or take out. The service was extremely friendly. They also offered some bread options, however, by the time we arrived in the afternoon, the better breads seemed to be sold out... we were just too late. The sticky bun was enjoyable but a bit too sweet and thin for my preference (I prefer thicker). The apple fritter was really delicious. The rum kisses were especially tasty - dark chocolate with a hint of rum flavor. I plan to arrive earlier next time and sample their rye breads.
