Bidra med feedbackThe food was good. server was great. everything he recommended we enjoyed.
That was so. the service was terrible. there were three of us, and at least 10 minutes between the delivery of food to one of us.
That was our first visit to the Russian banya. we will definitely come back. recommend the Russian beer,
The dumplings were very good, the pork kabobs were chewy, but seasoned well. The chicken Kiev was well executed but the frozen vegetables on the side were soggy/underdone. We requested water halfway through the meal (after finishing our beers) and never got it. It wasn’t busy, and there were two servers. The ambiance was strange, red plastic tablecloths and lots of fake chandeliers and a sparkling stage. My husband lived in Russia and said it was pretty authentic. The waiter rang my order up incorrectly and didn’t give me the full value of my groupon we were using. They didn’t provide a bill before us paying via credit card, so I didn’t realize it till later. We probably won’t return.
We went to the Volga Restaurant for our Valentine 's Day dinner. Yes, it 's a rather unusual choice: the ambiance is not exactly romantic; it 's more like dinner at a community center. But what a great, authentic dinner it was! All the food, from the pelmeny to the Moscow salad to dressed herring and blintzes, was utterly superb. Our waitress was not proficient in English, and we were not willing to embarrass ourselves with rarely-used Russian. Perhaps this fact would annoy some, but for us it added to the charm, and she was totally dedicated to getting our order correct and making us feel welcome. In short, a culinary experience much, much better than some hotter and newer (and, of course, far more expensive) Dallas restaurants. We are already planning a return visit!
