Oak Elixir - Carlsbad

Did we get the appetizers and the ducks out at the same time through dinner? then take the ducks back so we could enjoy the appetizers, but have brought us cold ducks 5-7 minutes later? Maybe it was good, but it was so cold? Disappointed as it was my birthday dinner, and I was hoping for a long lunch and we? in less than an hour.

I took my sister here the other week for my birthday. The night started great because I was excited that she zin Rombauer and we developed some good report with our server. The food was good, especially the Gorgonzola Flatbread, but the death of chocolate dessert was more of a peanut buttercake. But the bartender sent our server home and took over his tables. The service went after the switch. After dinner we still tasted our wine and he offered us dessert. He then asked if we wanted more water because our carafe was empty (that was also at the tail of the crazy heat wave), we said yes. Dessert was delivered, our plates were still there. We ate about half of the dessert, we see that he makes setbacks with other tables, except us, and another 20 minutes goes by and still no water or look back. At some point, my sister had to fly him to the water and check him. I was here a few times before and had a decent time, but this time unfortunately I made myself undesirable and probably won?t be back.

This is a beautiful place. Couldn't really owe anything, good and drinks were over par. I tried a few restaurants around the State St, but keep back to Oak Elixir. The cocktails were fab. I tried the ?chili margarita?. First understandable, but it was tasteful and unique. They have food outdoors and indoors. Would recommend reservations on weekends.

I liked my whisky sour and the artichoke Crostini was good. The chicken livers Crostinis were tasty, but the cake was a bit hard for some reason. Peach Burrata Salat and Short Rib were great. Raviolis were like that.

I LOVE this place and the staff. I was planning to have my wedding reception here in 2020 and then COVID hit. The team was fantastic all along the way as we tried to reschedule. I was finally able to hold a smaller reception dinner with family here this summer. Not only was the room absolutely stunning but the food was delicious! I live out of state but Oak Elixir will forever be on my list of places to stop when I am in town. Highly recommend! Great spot for a quick bite with friends or to hold an event.
