I recently dined at this restaurant for dinner, and it was an outstanding experience. The food was exceptional, earning a perfect rating of 5 stars. Every dish was a delight, showcasing creativity and flavor. The service was equally impressive, with attentive and friendly staff who made our dining experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, creating a perfect backdrop for a memorable evening. Plus, the convenience of a free parking lot made the entire visit hassle-free. Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience!
We made a reservation in February for a dinner in June and had to prepay $85 per person for what turned out to be disappointing food, lackluster service, and tiny portions. We were seated indoors at the "chef's table," which was just a makeshift space with a screen, and we had a harsh kitchen light glaring in our eyes the entire time that they couldn’t turn off. We ended up having to turn away from the table to block the light throughout the evening. I understand that it's meant to be rustic Maine—I'm a Mainer myself—but this was really poor ambiance. You can’t see into the kitchen or watch the chefs at work, so what's the point of the chef's table? Perhaps the outdoor gazebos would have been better, but given the subpar food and service, I doubt that it would have made much of a difference. As dedicated food enthusiasts who grow our own produce and are deeply interested in culinary practices, we were really looking forward to this meal. My boyfriend is a professional chef, and I have prior restaurant experience in NYC. However, there wasn’t even a menu! We understood it was pre-fixe, but a little description of the dishes would have been appreciated. Our server offered us no information or warm welcome to the farm; we had to inquire about where the food came from and what was in season. She only mentioned they cook with seasonal ingredients—an obvious fact. The portions were laughably small. We received undercooked pasta, a 2-ounce piece of halibut accompanied by a single cauliflower floret and frozen peas. Peas! And then there was duck served with barbecue sauce—a common sauce that I could easily whip up at home. They also presented cold hollandaise with asparagus as a starter, yet another universally accessible sauce. There was absolutely no creativity in the dishes. The dessert was doughnuts, which were the only highlight of the meal, and thankfully we received a loaf of bread at the beginning; without it, we would have left feeling even hungrier. Our cocktails were overly sweet, and choosing a wine was challenging since there was no menu or explanation of the courses being served. This lack of transparency seemed designed to pressure diners into purchasing wine pairings without knowing what they were getting. Lastly, it felt completely unfair that we had to prepay back in February for such a disappointing experience. What motivation do servers have to provide excellent service when payment is already secured? The automatic gratuity on the meal only added insult to injury. Overall, I found the entire experience extremely disappointing, with poor food and mediocre service.
