Bidra med feedbackIt's a big statement and I couldn't help but check out king of buns when I passed it. were they the best? they are cheap as chips, that's sure at $1 for a small bungalow and $2 for a big bungalow. I have a couple of black balls and a sesame ball. the ratio of filling to brothy in the pork chop was out of a colder with too little filling for my lust, but still delicious.
After some really tasty, authentic and cheap Shanghainese food? This Shanghai diner is an institution in Campsie, you can tell by the constant volume of people coming and going. They are famous for their steamed buns which come in a range of flavours, and for only $2, it’s a great value, tasty snack. I had the pork and veg bun which was soft and fluffy on the outside with juicy meat on the inside. We also ordered a couple of their pastries the spring onion pastry and red bean pastry yoghurt with soy milk (each item also costing us only $2 each). Both of the pastries were so flakey and had a good crunch particularly with the sesame seeds. The spring onion pastry was tasty, I’ve not...read more
They make the best vegetarian bun in Sydney! It is filled with just the right amount of veggies and mushroom, with a hint of sweetness. They often run out by midday so you have to get there early. Haven't tried the other items on the menu though so I can't comment.
For such cheap prices, their buns are really satisfying; both in portion size and taste. If I was super hungry, 3 vegetarian buns would easily fill me up. The bun itself is quite plain but the fillings make up for it. Usually they run out of vegetarian buns once it hits late afternoon so sometimes I miss out, but that's literally my only con. I wish they opened up more stands in other areas because I would eat their buns every day if I could, and not have to worry about my wallet too much.
Great little hole in the wall for some super cheap, and traditional steamed buns. Went here on a Monday night around 8pm as I stumbled upon it by mistake. For a traditional Pork bun it was $1.50. Huge portions. I could say two to three buns would fill up a very hungry person. The meat inside is delicious and doesn't have that red colour that most yum Cha places have. Though I am not a seasoned yum Cha eater, and I didn't grow up around Chinese cuisine, these buns certainly fill a hole and taste very fresh. They serve red bean buns too which I was able to sample and they are equally delicious. Will be visiting again to try a few other flavours. This place is a students heaven!
