Uni, A Sushi Place - Calumet-Norvelt

Very inventive sushi, hip and cool place, luckily not too crowded.

Uni is my favorite sushi place of all time. Great saki selections, innovative dishes, and personal service make it worthwhile. And if you’re looking for something special, ask James and he'll take care of it for you!

I didn't like it very much. The fish seemed to be of poor quality and it wasn't exactly cheap. Not in a very nice neighborhood.

I've been going to Uni for years and have NEVER had a bad experience. Great service, very friendly staff and the sushi is creative, delicious and inexpensive. My favorite surprise their Sundance roll with sun dried tomatoes and avocado. Also the mango salmon roll is always a good bet. They also have the best edamame never soggy, plenty of salt without going overboard. Definitely worth the value and a great neighborhood secret much better than any of the higher priced and less tasty neighboring sushi bars.

Uni is by far my favorite restaurant in DC. The food is always excellent, and the wait staff is extremely attentive. The owner is usually behind the sushi bar; he takes a really creative approach to sushi. Also, they've got one of the best sake selections in DC, and their happy hour prices (dollar sushi and sake specials) can't be beat. I've been going at least once a week for the past two years--it's got to be good to keep me coming back.
