Uni, A Sushi Place - Calumet-Norvelt

I've been going to Uni for years and have NEVER had a bad experience. Great service, very friendly staff and the sushi is creative, delicious and inexpensive. My favorite surprise their Sundance roll with sun dried tomatoes and avocado. Also the mango salmon roll is always a good bet. They also have the best edamame never soggy, plenty of salt without going overboard. Definitely worth the value and a great neighborhood secret much better than any of the higher priced and less tasty neighboring sushi bars.

Uni is by far my favorite restaurant in DC. The food is always excellent, and the wait staff is extremely attentive. The owner is usually behind the sushi bar; he takes a really creative approach to sushi. Also, they've got one of the best sake selections in DC, and their happy hour prices (dollar sushi and sake specials) can't be beat. I've been going at least once a week for the past two years--it's got to be good to keep me coming back.

With sushi being my absolute favorite food, I eat a lot of it! Uni consistently has top quality fish prepared in very creative ways. And for those vegetarians out there, they offer some fun alternatives to the cucumber roll! Everything on the menu is worth exploring, but I especially recommend the seared salmon with mint, salmon and mango maki, and the sundance rolls (sundried tomatoes).

The sushi here is very creative, and the atmosphere is trendy and inviting. Fortunately, it wasn't too crowded during my visit.
