Calistoga Sugar Train

Good locally made ice cream with more unusual delicious flavors. Loved the corn ice cream especially.

Best candy store I know of in Napa Valley. Located in Calistoga. The Sugar train has a wide and varied assortment of candy, jelly beans, chocolate as well as ice cream. The owner is great, incredibly friendly and his staff is great too. The setting can't be beat. You come out of the converted old rail car onto a supported train platform with benches and shade. A lovely place to relax and have something sweet. While the ice cream is fairly priced, the candy I found to be on the expensive end. I guess much of what he sells you really can't find anywhere, so their is the novelty factor, but $2.50-$3.50 for a fancy piece of candy seems steep to me.

I randomly mosied in while I was in town, and I was looking for icecream. This place had an array of choices that I had never seen before! Some icecreams based from Mexican fruits and/or cheeses! I ended up with a Mexican Hot Chocolate Milkshake! Of course it wasn't hot, it was a milkshake. But it was excellent! Sweet creamy, with plenty of cinnamon cayenne! Perfect for a hot day in Calistoga!

Small converted train car is a sweet shop that sells ice cream. Malbec chocolate chip ice cream is unsual, tasty, not overly sweet is a winner. It tastes of regular ice cream with a light Malbec wine after taste.
