Phoenix Kitchen Lounge - Calgary

First visit. Nice interior. One person serving at 5pm!? Terribly slow service, not attentive, one glass of water and never offered anything else after. Chicken wings were served still cold inside, but were replaced with better cooked wings. Rare beef pho was overcooked and served withOUT the care and attention that would go into it at a pho noodle house. It's like they didn't know what they were doing and went about it with zero confidence in their food. I'm a pho fan, patient and understanding but this pushed me over the edge. I'm NEVER going back.

Really good restaurant for Calgary North West, good atmosphere, fancy interior. Service was really good, food was even better. Get the rice wraps, chicken, been and shrimp, they are tasty but still light and healthy.

The ambience is VERY nice - bar is quite a ways from the dining area and completely screened from it which is nice. Salmon spring rolls ordered as a starter were VERY nice, mussels (also a starter) were ho hum, as was the seafood platter. Rice pudding was a DEFINITE "don't order again, and the fried bananas and icecream were VERY good.

This is not your usual Vietnamese Restaurant in a strip mall. Yes, its in a strip mall, but It is tastefully decorated in calming colors, has whimsical white light fixtures hanging from the ceiling, plays great music in the background, is quiet and classy. All the Vietnam__ese favorites are on the menu: I had my usual order of Bun with grilled shrimp. It didn't come in a bowl, instead it was artfully displayed on a white designer plate and came with a dozen shrimp rather than the standard 5 - 6. But what really caught our attention was the salmon spring rolls that we ordered as an appetizer to share. What a treat! The coating was crisp, light and flaky; the salmon filling was delectable and the aioli for dipping had just the right amount of wasabi. The wine glasses and water glasses were good quality, as was the silverware. What a treat!

I had previously rated this restaurant earlier in the year. At that time I wrote that we were not impressed and also stated it could just have been a bad day. We returned and were very pleased with the food.
