Miramar - Buenos Aires

On Sunday evening, a 90-minute walk from our hotel. I ordered the Rabo de Toro, braided oxtail, my wife ordered the chicken breast. The oxtail was served with boiled potatoes and vegetables in an enamel dish, very traditional. Meat came nicely away, meat... dishes very tasty. My wife's chicken was on the dry side and she fought to finish her meal. This cost a brand, but service and ambience were 5 stars. The local community is lucky to have this restaurant in front of their doorstep.

We have selected Miramar based on a combination of proximity and reviews. The situation was exact. The very good reviews had no relationship with our experience. The service was best, a rarity in friendly Argentina. The only positive thing about the waiter was that he completely forgot one of the dishes we ordered. We consider this to be a favor given the quality of what we have done or usually not to eat. The roasted chicken was so dry we think it was heated again from the day before. The homemade ravioli was thick, over boiled pasta wraps a hint of filling. Literally unusable. They do not believe that we are inexperienced travellers who are not familiar with restaurants in foreign countries know that we were in almost a hundred countries. This is our third trip to Argentina. We were on the street a solid year of this trip. We had worse meals, but only a few who have completely failed to live until the hype. So, so disappointing.

I am mysified by the good reviews. Who wrote that? Nothing was good, from the indifferent waiter, to the overcooked chicken (taste as yesterday reheated), to the glued together overcooked ravioli. It was square stuff, so I suppose it was Ravioli. But Ravioli usually has a filling and I couldn't recognize anyone. The waiter never said a word when my gloppy ravioli went back untouched I guess he saw it before. We ordered two salads after our ducks. His mixed salad was served with cold bread before dinner and mine never arrived. The dressing was oil and white vinegar. I've never served white vinegar in a restaurant. I didn't know it was for food. Where I come from, we use it to clean wood floors. It's an attractive place. Does it have high ratings? It was empty except us at 9:00. That should have been a hint.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend, so glad we did stopped by. Old fashion restaurant away from the tourist area. One of the owners ended up been our server. We started with the house wine, excellent. For an appetizer we had the...olives, and local cheeses, equally as good. My dish of scallops on red sauce with potatoes very good. My partners pork chop was massive and looked great( I don't eat pork). One of those out of the way places that made a great impression on us. Must visit while in Buenos Aires.

An excellent alternative 'local restaurant or bodegón ' in Buenos Aires. These 'bodegones ' began as small grocery stores and later evolved into great restaurants. Miramar has a unique menu, including ranas and rabo. Their wine list is also very good. Highly recommended
