Il Gran Caffe - Buenos Aires

Such a great location! Good place to stop for a drink and people-watch. Entertainment is hit-and-miss and folks seem to be familiar with the staff, who appear to have fun at work. Alas, the food was off the mark. Saltimboca and risotto were our choices. Beer was served in a cracked mug but server simply sloshed the poured part into a new one. I requested butter and received two pats, one of which had been opened and used.We liked the location but regretted staying for a meal.

We just got a selection of empanadas and some beer. Everything good. We found someone who spoke English so we did OK.

It's difficult to recommend a place where the service is not good, when there are so many other places available. We stopped here for lunch on a Sunday, and shared a charcuterie platter that was beautiful and tasted very good. Had the service been better, we would recommend.

With all big international and italian or spanish types restorants in bu enos aires, this is an amazing place in the middle of the city where you can have a truly tasty meal of any kind, at very reasonable prices (no tourist trap) and it has really the atmosphere of a Caffe while yo u can enjo y in a protected free air, all kind of people walking back and forth on one of the most famous streets in buenos aires. We stopped here fora light lunch although the extensive menu could have catered for almost anyone. Fast service language not an issue and decent prices. A nice little diversion to the hustle of Florida whit all the clouds and the shops.
