Bidra med feedback13 of us arrived at 6.30 and we were greeted with a surprised look even though we booked the table 2 weeks before. I was asked to pre order the food and send it through via email. I sent the email early that morning. We were handed a few menus and it soon became clear they hadn 't had our pre order. The waitress said she would go and check if they had the pre order. We then had to ask for a drink at about 6.50 when someone from the bar came over to ask what we wanted. The lady who served us made us feel like we were an inconvenience. When the drinks finally came, I still wasn 't sure whether the kitchen had received our pre order. I asked the waitress and she said Oh yea we 've got it . The food came after 7.30. It was around 7.45. We had 5 hungry children in our group and this is why we booked for 6.30 (and pre ordered). The restaurant wasn 't busy at all so we were confused why there was such a delay. One of the children knocked over her glass of water and the waitress was asked 3 times for a refill. She didn 't get one. At all. Whilst we are talking about drinks, we were not offered another drink after the first one. None of us had a drink with our meal. We asked the waitress for a drink in the end and she said I 'll get someone from the bar . By the time the lady from the bar came, we were about to ask for the bill so we didn 't bother. The food was ok but no one checked if it was and we weren 't offered any sauce. The vinegar was on the table but it had run out. We were out to remember my dad as it would have been his birthday and even though we had a lovely evening spending time with our family, the service was shocking and we wished we hadn 't tried somewhere new. Really disappointed!
Went for sunday lunch and it reflected the pubs aim of being really honest, tasty, home cooked, no frills food. Friendly staff, perhaps a little under staffed on a busy Sunday which meant that service was a little slow and I had to clean my own table as it had been re-set but not wiped clean after the previous occupants and the lack of staff meant it was quicker to do it myself,
We had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch, unhurried and in pleasant surroundings with very friendly staff. I had the gourmet burger with extra cheese and it was huge but not only that it was tasty and freshly made. Each of our party (4) had a different meals and the kitchen managed to get all four ready at the same time so they were all on the table together. Each of us commented on just how good their choice was. The only disappointment was that there was a lack of their own real ales. Having promised myself a couple of pints of Cofton Common it was disappointing to find that they only had one of their own brews on tap, the Icknield Pale Ale. I guess that on a Monday lunchtime they had not been able to restock after a busy weekend. I forced myself to have a couple though and it was a passable alternative. Ivbeen before and I'll be going again. What more can one say.
My wife and I visit the Coach Horses for lunch, with two friends, every few weeks. We have always had good food and good service until our last visit on 24 July 2023 We both ordered the Fish Chips for our main course and it arrived fairly promptly. Sadly, we both had to return our meal as the chips on both plates were almost cold. Shortly afterwards, the meals were returned with fresh hot chips. Unfortunately, although my wife 's food was fine, my fish was almost inedible. There was almost more batter than fish and the fish itself was grey, dry and overcooked. It appeared that it may have been refried more than once. Having returned the meals already I decided not to do so again. Afterwards I messaged the Coach Horses both by email and on their website to say how disappointed we were but would not post a damning review as 'anyone can have an off day '. Sadly, I have had no response or acknowledgement hence this review : Will we visit again? Time will tell !!
Visited with a friend for lunch. Had the spinach and ricotta cannelloni with garlic bread and salad. My friend had the same but without the garlic bread and had Chips and salad. The good was piping hot and delicious. The waitress was a young lady and she took our orders for drinks straight away to drinks as well were seated. She was very attentive. We saw other food coming out to diners and from ours to salads, faggots and peas etc and they all looked very appetising and good portion sizes. We will go back at sometime. Would recommend.
