Bidra med feedbackWe are from out of town and wanted to try the chicken fried steak. You need to come ready to eat. Food was great, kind of home cooking type of dinner. Service was very good, and I'm glad we stopped there.
Sweet Tea was on point! Great service. We opted for the Ribeye- it was a really good piece of meat. Had a nice meal! Would return.
There's not much to say here, which is a good thing. Every single little bit of food my mother and I had was made to perfection and our server Betty was incredible. This was homemade food that had barely any salt and pepper in it, if at all. If you want more, there's a reason salt and pepper shakers exist. The salad bar was stocked with a plethora of options and the two stars of the show for this salad bar for me, was the potato salad and the pasta. Oaks Steakhouse, you deserve a higher rating. We loved every minute and every bite.
If you grew up with a Grandma who could cook but also had the plastic protective cover on the sofa you 'll feel right at home at The Oaks. This is actually our second time to visit The Oaks; we enjoy vacationing in this area. The Oaks is just a small roadside dinner that features steaks, burgers, seafood and sandwiches of all varieties. Even though it 's been 3 4 years since our last visit, we knew we were in for a treat when we pulled in and found two Oklahoma Highway Patrol police cars in the parking lot. (Foodie tip: if the police eat there it 's usually good food. After perusing the menu the wife and I both settled on the open faced hot roast beef sandwich. The plate came with an option of fries or mashed potatoes and a side salad. We both picked the mashed potatoes and ranch dressing on the salad. A short time later our drinks arrived; we had both ordered sodas. Surprisingly the sodas were served in super large cups. The sodas were strong and great tasting. When the food came out we were impressed. The open faced sandwich was great with tender roast beef piled high on perfectly toasted bread and topped with brown gravy. Now let me stop here and comment on something that really brought this meal home the mashed potatoes. Very common at most restaurants is what I call the mound of potatoes with a landslide of gravy that contaminates everything on the plate. But at The Oaks the mashed potatoes were served bird nest style with a well contained pool of brown gravy. As much as I enjoyed the separation of the gravy on the potatoes, I was not happy to have the side salad served on the plate with everything else. Ranch dressing, brown gravy, mashed potatoes all running together it was almost disastrous. Overall, we love this place. It 's on regular rotation when we are in the area. Good, fresh home cooked meals that have a great price point. Service is friendly and efficient. Sad note that we didn 't notice until we were pulling out there is a for sale sign out front. We hope this isn 't our last visit to The Oaks.
Me and the family came here for dinner as we were passing through on a Friday evening. It had a decent crowd, but not too busy. Staff was very friendly and went the extra mile by helping me and my wife put our baby's car seat in a high chair. I ordered a NY strip, medium-rare with a loaded baked potato. It also come with a trip to the salad bar. The steak was cooked just right, however, there was no seasoning on it. It was just plain meat. It was priced about $26, so I wasn't happy that it had no seasoning. The backed potato was nothing special. They used the fake, dried up bacon bits, so that was disappointing as well. The salad bar looked kind of weak at first glance, but after getting some items, I found there to be a good selection. Also, the baked potato salad was amazing! I'm not saying I'd never go back, but for them to call themselves a steak house, I was disappointed in their steak and would not recommend spending your money on that. They had some good looking catfish though!
