Shuck Me Hochatown - Broken Bow

Staff was nice. Food was so so. I had the 6 jumbo fried shrimp. They seemed to be medium shrimp that they over butterfly and they must pound them out real thin. It made the very dry. They use a corn meal coating that didn't taste bad, I just never hadshrimp that dry and thin. I also had a lobster chowder, it tasted good. The wife had the red fish and it was a bit over cookedor dry as well. She also ordered clams on the half shell that were very small, meat size was about the size of a dime. It isalso fairly pricey for the quality and having to order and pick up your own food. But again the staff was nice.

The shrimp boil was super yummy ???? It was really busy but the staff did an excellent job keeping up and did it with a smile. If you see a long line don't leave they do a great job working through it quickly. The food is worth it.

We ordered the Fried Sampler for each of us, and it exceeded our expectations! Every piece was incredibly fresh and delicious. We couldn't help but smile at each other as we enjoyed our dinner, and by the time we were finished, we were already planning our next visit! (We even had half of each meal to take home.) The food was absolutely fantastic! The service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was lovely. We dined outside in the back, where we spotted deer wandering around the pond and into the woods. The place was beautifully decorated, featuring old boat motors on the porch and creative uses of fishing equipment as decor throughout, especially in the back where we sat. It’s pet-friendly, so it was nice to see some couples with their adorable dogs, and they were a pleasant addition. Even the name of the restaurant is charming and fun! "SHUCK ME, WE WILL BE BACK!"

While the portion sizes were decent, the quality of the food was just average. They served cold butter with the crab, which was surprising. The garlic butter shrimp lacked flavor. I understand that it's seafood in Oklahoma, so I might be a bit harsh in my assessment, but given the higher prices, I expected more. If you're going to serve messy dishes that require hands-on eating, it would be nice to have a handwashing station outside so customers don't have to navigate through a door to reach the bathroom just to clean their hands.

On the positive side, the staff were friendly, and the place was mostly clean. However, the prices felt high compared to similar local places. Although the portions were generous, they weren't worth it given the poor quality; it was the first time in ages that I couldn't finish my meal. The beers were ice-cold, which at least helped distract from the unappetizing food.
